| Hi anyone. I was just reading through the posts and Topics here. Finished yesterday with 4 cores and TCP/IP. I am realizing that SQL will be my next mountain and from my reading, it looks like I am going to try for the MCDBA. What topics will I need to write to sew up my MCSE and then also take from a MICROSOFT view to qualify MCDBA. Is it more than -028 and -029??? | |
| Just have a look at any of the links in my signature under the Microsoft Certifications Page on the Accreditation Paths section all you need to know is there or on http://www.examnotes.net/mcdba/
Hope these help you..

| Thanx to both of u. So far I have - Server(NT4), Workstation(NT4), Net Ess.(NT4), Server in the Enterprise(NT4), and my elective is TCP/IP. naturally I would like to also eventually be knowledgeable and certified 2000. My immediate concern is finishing the first certification. Will the 2000 track SQL (229 i think) apply and complete my first NT track?? | |
| 229 will work, according to MS website today. I was thinking of doing the same but have decided to take the easiest test I can to finish by the end of the month. (which test, I'm not sure) | |
| Thanx for keeping the forum alive, Puthupa. Sounds like you're heading down the same road almost. I've decided to continue with the NT Track and complete 70-028 and -029, first. Found cheap STUDY material for 70-029 on sale as everybody in the retail world likes to draw the BIG DOLLARS from the current 2000 track. Also learned that some of the material (229 I believe is still unavailable but I forget where I read that). CHEAP books are a definate draw for me but also plans to then repeat both MCSE and MCDBA very soon after NT certification will allow all this knowledge to seep into my thick head through repitition of similar and same course content. This will result in a qualified candidate for any prospecting employer if you market yourself properly. Best of luck to you and stay in touch with us to let us know how things work out! | |
| Thanks, bro. I think I'm gonna go for Troytec's study materials - just gotta decide between -028 & -029, since they don't have anything for SQL 2000 yet. | |
| How's the studying going Puthupa. Still plugging away?? | |
| Yeah. It's gonna be tough. I got a copy of SQL 7 instead and need to find a cd key (the guy I got it from conveniently lost it).
The job market is crappy, so I'm just adding skills in the next month. Working on SQL (got Troytec, but it is definitely not enough), will be working on Access too. Gonna build a website, run my own email...
Eventually, this will pay off. | |

| Hey bubba_joe -- I finished my MCSE in February with workstation, server, enterprise, essentials, tcp/ip & iis4.0. I am now going for my MCDBA. I emailed Microsoft, and they said that I only needed SQL7 70-028 and 70-029 to get it. Hope this helps. | |
| Lin, thanx for the info and everyone else, I hope all is well. Had to break studying to file my income taxes b4 the end of this month deadline. Gov't is like Microsoft, NO EXTENSIONS!!. However, I keep peeking in to see how everything is going. Thanx for keeping the SQL forum alive and to those still on track and studying, please keep writing us your trials and tribulations. CHEERS! |
