| Hi,
After two weeks of studying this stuff inside and out, I passed it today, it was pretty easy, i thought, a lot of questions on Minimum requirements, backups, user roles, I actually scored a 1000 on it, I did guess at 5 of the questions which I had no idea about. Anyways I am think I am leaving SQL behind me, because I found it extremely boring. I am going back to Cisco and a little Unix, See ya. If anyone needs help please get in touch with me!!

| Congradulations... Very good for a 2week investment in time. Do you use the product at all? I hope to spend just 2 weeks part time on the included reference book. Then put the product to good use immediately.
MS want's it to be straight forward so it will capture market share from Oracle. Also knowing the administration duties should be the first step in functionality of a database.
I may be wrong but does this exam help with MCDBA? I think it's no good for MCSD just MCSE. | |

| I dont think the test helps much for the MCDBA, there is not much Tsql on the exam, most of the questions were straight foward admin questions eg. backups, creating users, application roles, DTS (Data Transfer Service) SQL NT services, installation requirements, installation steps and configuration. I had like 4-5 questions on TSQL language, and I did not study that at all prior to taking the exam, so when I seen the questions I was thrown for a loop but I made educated guesses and luckily I got them right. I am not sure if I plan on going on to MCDBA but if I did I would prepare a lot harder and with a lot of hands on experience. Good Luck with everything,

Congratulations! I am glad your intense studying paid off so well. I have been slacking like crazy, I've only read an Access 2000 book and am about 150 pages into the Sybex Press' book on Administration. You really have motivated me, though, and I am gong to really pound out those books for this test. Congratulations, once again, and thank you again for helping me get back my motivation! I'll let everybody know how it went! | |

| What did you use to study? If it can be done in two weeks (like my other 5 tests so far), then I'm definitely in!

| as a wote early the only book I used was the Osborne MCDBA book. It covers everything that you'll see on that exam. You also need to get your hands on a copy of SQL. That's not as hard as you may think. I believe MS offers a trial version it on the website. Or maybe you can ask around and see if any friends have a copy. But you definetly need to play with it a bit. You will gain a lot of understanding of SQL by using it. It's pretty easy once you start playing with it. ( The Admin portion anyways ), learning TSQL is another story. T-SQL is a whole programming language and cannot be learned in two weeks. I don't know any TSQL and until I am offered $15000 extra a year to learn it, I am not gonna look at it. Play with that admin tool, enterprise manager and read that book and you should be fine. There's not to many posts on it as you can tell by this board. So stick with the cramsession and this sites examnotes on it and you should do just fine. | |
