Ok boys and girls here is the low down on this exam. IT'S HARD. Just plain hard. If you don't comprehend DNS and WINS and thoroughly enjoy answering those long winded required and optional results questions then I suggest you stay home because this test is FULL of them. All those questions you see in dumps about "What would you use to monitor ethernet and tcp/ip statistics" are crap. Yes you need to know this stuff but on the test that I took yesterday there were probably 4 short questions. 1 drag and drop. 2 printing, the rest were LONG....

and that's my report. I would offer more but since only 2 people on this forum actually helped me I think I'll end this.

Testing again on Tuesday Sep 12.

NT_GAWD,

Thanks for sharing your experience, and i'm sorry you didn't pass the first time. I've done well up to this point and i'm sure i'll run into a wall on this one, but first you don't succede dust yourself off and try again, and as you incicated on tuesday you will. Good Luck and i'm looking forward to taking my test sept 30(wake up huh). Let us know how you did the second time around.

Hi NT_Gawd,

Sorry to hear about your bad experience on the TCP/IP test...I am also preparing for this one and hope to take it before the end of the month, but I have been getting very frustrated with the material(ip addressing and subnetting, etc.) I still have a fair amount of reading to do before hitting practice tests, so maybe more will come together by then...(Let's hope!)

However, most people have told me that this exam is not all that bad...Yet, in the last few days I have been seeing several reports about the test being much much harder!! With a few people saying it was a breeze!! There must be a few tests out there that are real killers...Anyway, I may have to rethink my timetable on this one if things don't start to improve..

A couple of people who I spoke with that took the exam in the last month said that Enterprise was much harder, so go figure!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. While it is scaring the **** out of me, at least it is reality...I hope that your experience on Tuesday is more favorable...By the way, what did you use to study from and how long have you been preparing? Thanks and good luck...

Good Tidings,

I would have to say that I studied for approximately 1 month prior to taking the exam. I am studying right not to be quite honest with you. Good luck on your exam and if you need any training materials let me know. I have lots of tricks in my bag as of today.

P.S. Enterprise is my next test. Gulp

Hi There,

Sorry about that...I was assuming that you had already taken Enterprise!! I have taken it already and did quite well, but I seem to be running into a road block on this one..Of course I am only less than halfway through the book...But the I don't seem to be retaining stuff...Perhaps when I start doing tests later on it will come back...Right now I am pretty frustrated about the subnetting thing too...

Thanks for the offer on the study materials..I will keep that in mind..I want to finish my reading first and see if it starts to come together...Otherwise, I might take you up on the offer. Yes, I should get back to studying a bit here too...Are you using MOC stuff or other books and what practice exams? Were you really caught off guard by the questions on the exam(as in were they totally unreasonable) or just areas that you needed a little more prep time on?

I saw some post somewhere, where the guy said he had 10 scenarios...I find that a little hard to believe especially with only 60 minutes to do the exam...I think that you need most of that time for TCP/IP with only 3-5 scenarios etc...I could be wrong though...Anyway, thats about it for now..Good luck on your studying..I know that I will need it too!!!!

Kang,

I'm like you, also hear and see post that indicate the test being not as bad once you get thru ip addressing, and for the longest i heard enterprise was the hardest??? I've given myself a month to study and take this test. It's slowly coming together. I figure load up on study material and it should reinforce. NT_GAWD it sounds like you feel a little better about your studies ? I hope you good luck tuesday.

I missed it by 30 odd points. Let me tell you, this test should not be a elective, but a core exam. I plan on taking it in about 2 to 3 weeks from now. I Took time to study I net+. And after TCP/IP, I plan on Proxy Server.

Hi all,

Well, that is what I was told by people including a friend who took the test last month...But it looks like maybe they are making a last ditch effort to tweak the exams...I hope that I will be able to put it together in that time frame like you Courvoisser, but I am starting to have my doubts!!
As far as TCP/IP being a core exam Poolit, I think that you will have your wish. As of Win2K, it will be incorporated into the core exams....

Oh well, I guess I will keep plugging away maybe this stuff will make some sense sooner or I hope not later...If you guys get any updates from people please pass them along..

Kang,

A friend and I took the exam on the same day and he told me as many questions that he could remember from his test and all I could think was "Damn he had the easy test" needless to say he passed. I on the other hand had all the jacked up your mom has a wins server and your dad has a wins server and all your little cousins can't connect but each one is on his / her own subnet with multiple problems on each one. BLAH BLAH BLAH. I on the other hand only had ONE scenario question, whereas my friend once again lucked out and had none. Damn that boy is lucky. Anyways. I don't care who says this exam is easy I was there, I took it, I didn't pass it, and I know my S-H-I-T cause I have been studying the 411 for months. I would have to agree that MicroJUNK® might be tweaking the format in the waning moments of the exams existence. Keep me posted on your studies and if you need those resources let me know and I will hook you up. Take care and have a good weekend.

I figured that would happen. But this is the end of Microsoft for me. Retiring the NT 4 line is unbelievable. Not many companies are going to W2K for a while. Too many bugs. I think that Novell will make a comeback in the near future <- (that is my opinion).
As far as I can see, it seems everyone is going Cisco and I don't blame them either. The Cisco certification has more power and recognition in the IT Field than microsoft and it shows. I don't mind change, but let W2K show it what it can do in time.

HI there NT_Gawd soon to be TCP/IP_Gawd,

Well, thanks for the info there on the exam...That is a bummer, but even still kinda strange that you only got one scenario and he got none....

I see above that Giovanni just passed TCP/IP and he said it was not bad at all...I don't know it seems to be very polar...Either not that bad, or as in your case the test from ****!!!....

I don't know, but I seem to be forgetting stuff that I have read..Hopefully it will start coming back with the Transcenders etc...All I know is I will be happy when this one is over...That is what I said about Enterprise too though!!! I hope that I have enough time to be able to reread this book but I doubt it....Thanks again for the resources offer, I will definitely keep it in mind...For now I am having enough of a time staying motivated to read this book..If I have other distractions right now it might slow me down...So, maybe after I start trying to put all this together I take you up on it....Anyway, better get back to it...Have a great weekend and think positively!!!!
