| I wanted to go for N+ in about a couple months but was discouraged to hear that N+ is not really recognized in the industry and that Net Ess was more recognized coz it is Microsoft--- is this true? Also: I heard if you get N+ that Net Ess should be a snap? Any feedback is really appreciated coz I want to be certified both b4 Dec......thanx | |

Well for your first question. It is true that the Networking Essentials exam is more popular than Network+. But, Network+ is more and more popular. The fact that Networking Essentials won't be available after Dec 31th will surely affect the Network+ popularity. The sad thing about Networking Essentials is that it won't get you an MCP. It's one of the exceptions.
If you have studied for Networking Essentials then Network+ won't require that much study. Most stuff is covered in both exam. You'll may have to review some stuff related to networking in Novell, Unix, since Network+ is a vendor neutral certification (TIP: I haven't seen that much stuff about those so i wouldn't really bother). Your best bet would be getting a book and compare the blueprint for each exam. The stuff that is not covered in one or another review it and the stuff that will be in both (like the famous OSI model  ), just review it if you know it.
Personally, i have take Networking Essentials before Network+. I found Network+ to be a bit more difficult. But manage to pass easilly. Which ever exam you'll take, read the questions a few time to make sure you get what they want. They loves to puzzle you with weird worded questions.
