Author Taking NE in about 2 weeks!

Well...

I have decided to take this stupid exam allready. I took bunch of practice tests and passed them all. I just hope that the questions that were on those panpage and rampage exams will be on my test. Does anyone knows if they have separate tests or is it just one fixed test for everyone? I think I am pretty much ready but I have to polish some more things up. I get confused with routers and bridges =( plus I have to study OSI model little more but other than that I think I am ready...=)

Hi,

The exam should have a pool of question that the test picks from. I would mostly say that there should not be any new questions since it's gonna retire soon. I don't think MS cares much about MCSE on NT4 right now. Anyhow, like i always say check and read these guides over and over, the guide from this site and the one on cramsession.com

If you score high grades from the testing software around it seems like you are ready for the big boom . NS doesn't get in details with Routers and Bridges. I'll give you a brief explanation on both.

Taken from Mike Meyers Network+ book.
Router: A device connecting seperate networks that fowards a packet from one network to another based only on the network address for the protocol beeing used. For example, an IP router looks only at the IP network number. Routers operate at Layer 3 (Network) of the OSI model.

Bridge: A device that connects two networks and passes traffic between them based only on the node address, so that the traffic between nodes on one network does not appear on the other network. For example, an Ethernet bridge only looks at the Ethernet address. Bridges filter and fowards packets based on MAC addresses and operate at Level 2 (Data Link) of the OSI model.

Maybe this will help out a little bit. For the OSI model, check the stuff covered in the guides and you'll most likely want to check the Network+ guides as well. Some stuff is similiar and could help you get some more information. Hope this helps and good luck

PS: Thanks for the comments . You should thank the Webmaster too for putting this site together. Without him this would not exist. Best Regards.

I don't think Microsoft goes in depth with routers and bridges (Haven't got indept questions on my exam). Just roughly know what they do, at which OSI layer they operates and you should be ok. Like i said, use the information from the guides posted above and you should be ok.
