Author Is Network Ess. same as Network+ ?

2000-07-18, 11:59 pm

Ive passed all of Comptia's exams. I have NT Server and IIS. I now want to complete my MCSE before Dec 31. Is the Network Ess. exam same as the network+ ? I missed only one question on the network+.

Is there one area that I would have to study more on that the other test doesnt have?
Are there more scenerio q's than net+?

Any help will help?

I haven't taken either exam, so read my answer with a grain of salt ...

Network Essentials is a Microsoft exam and Network+ is supposed to vendor neutral. My guess would be that NE will focus exclusively on Microsoft implementations. For NE, you will not only need to understand underlying concepts (as with N+), but you will need to be able to identify Microsoft specific solutions.

I have taken Networking Essentials in May. The exam had a few scenario questions and a few drag and drops. If you have missed only one question on Network+ you won't need a big review for Networking Essentials. If you are using dumps, check for Panpage and Rampage dumps. As said many times, those two dumps are pretty much Networking Essentials. If you're not a dump fan, It could be a good idea to get the guide from this site, cramsession and mcmcse. Also you might want to check on Microsoft.com to see which objectives that the exam covers. Well then, best of luck my friend and hope this helps.

PS: I'm gonna take Network+ this friday, i can post again if you don't get enough information from other users.

Kevth,

I am currently studying for the Network + test to be taken next Wed. I took Microsoft Networking Essentials last week and scored a 900 out of 1000. From what I see a lot of the Net Essentials information is carrying over into the Network +. Hence my interest in getting this cert while the information is still fresh on my brain, and while I have a break in my MCSE track. I could easily tell you to run out and look at the RAMPAGE - PANPAGE prep exam (free) but you have to remember that you're still going to have to understand the context of what is involved. I mean this is all going to carry over into the Enterprise exam and you WILL see it again in probably any Microsoft exam you take. Memorization is probably 80%, 10% practical application, and 10% weirdness factor© in the Net Essentials exam. I will say this though. I spent my time reading the Microsoft Press book that was given to me as well as the exam cram test prep manual. After doing such I viewed a few dumps, mainly RAMPAGE - PANPAGE. After understanding the concepts and realizing I was ready I took the exam and I'll be damned if the RAMPAGE - PANPAGE prep test wasn't damn near verbatim. In short learn it, understand it, and use the RAM / PAN after that, and then apply it by kicking *** on the test. Passing is always good but why not try to excel? Every exam I take I shoot for 1000/1000. Granted I haven't made that yet I continue to drive on. (One day sigh!!!) Best wishes on your exam.

Some parts may be familiair yes. I haven't take CCNA yet but since both are oriented into networking i wouldn't be suprised running into the same stuff on both exam. If you want more information for Network+ you should check the outline page on CompTIA's website.
