| The term "Paper MCSE" gets thrown around alot. I assume Paper MCSE refers to someone with no experience in the feild and gets an MSCE certification.
I wanna know if anyone out there has an MCSE
Certification with no experience and was able to land decent IT related job that pays well and I would like to know how they did it. Thx | |

| I'd recommend getting experience (internships, part time jobs) over getting the certification if you were to choose 1. Employers need to see that you know what you are doing before hiring you full time. They need to know you're able to handle the real-world stuff before they throw you at the real world. Certifications should be used to back up your knowledge and expertise. The help desk job is a good first step, don't look down upon it... it will certainly come with time.. make sure he looks for something else too in the near future, because it's best to have multiple lines on the resume, not just from 1 job...
Good luck. | |

| Neo,
I have been in the field 3 years and have a really cool job making great money. The fallacy that many paper MCSE's have is that they get a job like this to start. The fact is, you have to start at the bottom. Helpdesk and tech support phone jobs were what I did for the first year and a half. I have alot of friends in the field now and the 2 that got "real" jobs to start with out going to the helpdesk first can't make a boot disk or load a mouse driver. The fact is that you'll still get 20 bucks an hour at the helpdesk and God knows we all couldn't get that 5 years ago.
Post your resume on www.nettemps.com for contract and perm work. That worked the best for me. I have 2 certs and am going for my 3rd next week. But my experience gets me a minimum salary of 60K.
Good Luck!
