Why are peolple doing exams that are retiring ?

| Surely it makes sense to choose an elective that counts towards NT4 MCSE and W2K ???
If you do, say, TCP/IP then in order to stay current you will have to do another elective.
Unless I am mistaken, there are some non-retiring exams that will get you the NT4 MCSE and count towards the 2000 MCSE.
So why the rush to get the 2 retiring electives ?
Am I missing something here ?

| A person should not be encouraged to take one examination soley on the premise of whether or not it is being retired. It really depends on the individual what you are going to do with it.
I am taking TCP/IP and at the present time, I have no plans to upgrade to Windows 2000. I think that with the way the industry is going right now, Windows 2000 students are going to graduate into a relatively small job market.
I personally want my NT4 MCSE, and then I am either going to hold out for Whistler, or leave Microsoft behind, and go the route of Novell or Cisco. I haven't fully decided yet.
As I said before, each person's electives pertain to what they want to do with their MCSE, and nobody can judge you for the electives you choose. And nobody should encourage you to choose one elective over another soley based on whether or not that elective is retiring.

| Well it could be that they are interested in that particular elective, have experience and would like to work with that technology
It does not matter if an exam is retiring or not becos at the end of the day at this moment in time, the technology being referred to is not yet redundant 
Well thats my 2 cents anyway

| I won't argue with the above, they are definitely good reasons.
But here is another one that I know to be true:
People that have absolutely no experience, and who desire to have paper certs, have heard that the NT4 exams are easier than the W2K exams.
This applies more towards core exams than electives, but it's true.
