I see Microsoft is bringing out new MCSA track and it doesn't include 70-215. Should I start looking at the 70-290 (Windows 2003 Server track) in readiness for June when it comes out? I already have 70-210 and A+ which can count for accreditation.

Don't bank on it in June ... lol

Besides, 215 will be with us for a few years yet. Do the W2K track and then do the upgrades for MCSA/MCSE as they become available.

Agree with Russ, 2003 is going to take a long time to dent the market like 2000. Stick with the 2000 track, worry about 2003 when it's on it's 4th service pack.....

Get 2000 then upgrade. You'll understand a lot more. Also, most companies are just now considering upgrading to windows2000. Learn as much as you can about 2000, as there is a lot more documentation, and then upgrade to '03 when you feel ready.

I say
Get the 2000 and then update it when the time comes.
Why?
Look at it from the employers perspective,
You can show you have experience in 2000 AND 2003 if you have both tracks, this shows
A. Your not a complete newbie and have been around at least a little while.
B. You are also keeping current on the latest OS.

So your experienced and your up to date
best of both worlds.

Hey thanks everyone for the advice.

I have started 70-215. The only thing that worries me bout upgrading is that I know a couple of smart guys who tried to upgrade their NT MSCE to 2000 - (the fast track)and to their surprise, both failed the exam. They don't get another chance at it, and now they have to start the whole MSCE thing again. And I'm not even as smart as them! The good thing is that MCSE 2000 will be more similar to new Operating systems than NT was. Oh well, at this rate, I'll just be studying all my life. Guess that's what keeps Microsoft in business.

Same thing happened to me.
No big deal, take enough tests and one will get past you eventually, especially one like the accelerated exam.
Just make sure you chose your elctives wisely so they will carry over to the new track, pick ones that are included in both track.

the example about failing the 70240 upgrade exam from nt4 to 2k is not applicable to 2k to 2003. i believe you can make the upgrade exams all the times required. the 70240 exam was FREE and you had only one chance!!

you can have a mcse on 2k and if you pass both upgrade exams to 2003 (not design or elective necesary) you automatically get MCSE 2003 and MCSA 2003!!!!!
