| okay, so i am studying network+ and should be taking my test soon. so i decide i should get some reading matter in preparation of my next exam, which should be 70-210.
i walk into a bookshop and decide against buying the self-paced guide for 210 (hardback edition at £42), as i could probably get the core set in softback for just over a ton. and i buy the administrator's pocket consultant 2nd edition by william r stanek.
will this book help with my 210? it seems to cover a lot of ground, methinks perhaps little bits of everything that makes up the mcsa. it says it is aimed at "current windows 2000 system administrators and accomplished users who have some administrative responsibilities", so it sounds like it would be good enough to accompany a 210 study book.

| i've thumbed through that book.. i think that it will help, especially as a reference companion if you are not always at a desk. | |
|
| all of the books will help...
there is reference books, and there is the exam/certification books.
I will take reference books over exam specific books any day for learning/knowing the technology.
my fav book regarding win2k are
win2k server admin companion (mspress)
and
active directory black book (coriolis)
and
resource kit of course.
my cert books and my moc is sitting in a box somewhere...
however, when you are studying for a test, what matter is an exam specific book that address the exam objective... just know that there is more to the cert books as they generally suck in addressing the techonology in a learning/work related perspective. Generally these reference books are a lot more detail, less of a newbie guide, address specifics, and get the job done... it pains me greatly when I see certifified professionals going by cert books and completely ignornant of these others books as they do not help them become *certified*...

| thanks for the tips. i know that if i decide to study for any mcp exams i will probably use the ms training kits, but i do fancy some more less exam-specific material too. i have some networking books that don't even mention certification or exams that i think help me to understand my network+ a little better. |
