| Hi everyone!
I work in a school of arts, we are running 5 servers, one bdc and one pdc, proxy, sms and mail relay, anyway my question/problem/query is this: The roaming profile of my colleague somehow not being downloaded into his machine everytime he logs on, he complained to me several times that he desperatelly needed those desktops settings, icons, program files on his start menu folder. I then went open up his profile folder such as \\pdc\profile\gijoe. I open up gijoe, I could see all his folders such as, my documents, personal, desktops, start menu, applications and a lot more. I double click on each one of them, and I found out that the desktop folder was empty, the start menu was empty but My documents, application, personal folders etc was okay, so I then restored back his profile using yesterdays tape back up, I verified the restore job and it was successfull, I verified the \\pdc\profile\gijoe and everything was restored back, I went to his computer, logon as him, I got his profile back, all his desktop icon was there, his start menu\programs were all there and the others, I then logoff, and logback on as him again, but this time I don't see any of his desktop icon, even his program on the start menu, they're all gone. What I found it realy, realy weird was that the \\pdc\profile\gijoe folder desktop folder was empty as well, also the start menu folder was empty but others were okay. Obviously, he wasn't very pleased at all, so I restored his profile back again using the very rescent backup tape, I verified the job which was successfull, I check the \\pdc\profile\gijoe which is also all been restored. I then logon to his machine as him, and I got his profile back, everything was there, logoff and logback on and all were gone! again!!! verified the \\pdc\profile\gijoe folder and same folder which is start menu and desktop folder were virtually empty. Why on earth that this is happening? Do you have any suggestion or idea what is going on? Any suggestions would be grately appreciated. Thank you for reading my post. |
