MCSA - Some Questions....

| Ive been an Mcp since 1999, And last year I finally decided to start the 2000 Mcse path.
The MCSA comes along and the long winding path from Microsoft doesnt look that long and winding.
Anyway Poetry aside, I passed 70-210 last year, I take 70-215 next week. What would people advise my next choice?
I could keep going for the Microsoft route and pick another Microsoft component or alternatively go for the quick Net+ and A+ route to get the third part of the MCSA qualification.
Thanks for the reply.

| It all depends, did you intend to get the A+ and N+ still? If not then skip those and go for 70-216 since its required for the MCSE anyways. When I did it I already had my A+ and N+ so I just went with that route, if I didn't already have those then there would have been no way I would have went back and taken those just for the MCSA. It's up to you though. | |

| I agree with Slinky. I did not have the A+/Net+ stuff, but was pursuing the MCSE track - after I took the core 4, I tackled 218 as an elective for MCSE and picked up the MCSA on my journey. So IMHO, next for you would be 216 and if you want to go the MCSE route take 217 and then 218. Having knocked out the 4 core made 218 a breeze. | |

| Finish up the MCSA or MCSE first..
Yes, u can alway take off to N+ or A+, they are veyr easy if u are experience PC tech.
I recommend not to stop until you reach the goal. It is easier to do that.

| I passed 70-215 Today,
After finding 70-210 a breeze the dificulty of this one came as a shock. I admit I was only 85% ready (I booked the exam less than 2 weeks and bassically picked up my book from that point). Anyway its my 3rd Mcp and 2nd towards my first goal of the Mcsa.
Ive decided against the A+ N+ route, the exams are expensive and dont help toward the Mcse.
My gut feeling is to do either 70-218 or 70-217 next, leave 70-216 after getting the Mcsa.
What do people advise? Active Directy or 70-218?
Thanks Again.

| Personally I would go for 70-217 next. I did the same thing as you by skipping 70-216, and I didn't have any problems whatsoever on 70-218. If you skipped both 70-216 and 70-217, you may find yourself in a little bit of a more difficult situation. Hard to say though. I did have alot of Active Directory questions on my exam, and studying for AD helped me out quite a bit. Since 70-218 is a potpourri of all the cores, it would be ideal to have all 4 finished before you took it. But it's not necessary. |
