| Should I take 70-216 or 70-218 first? Which one will better prepare me for the next? I hear 70-218 is a smaller version of 70-216 so wouldn't it be better to take it first to get a general knowledge of 70-216? Suggestions anyone?
BTW have passed 70-210 and 70-215 so far.

| Its not necessary to take 70-216 first. I took 70-218 and passed without taking the other. If you have taken the other cores, that is 70-210, 70-215, and 70-217, you can get by without 70-216. It won't hurt to take it though, you'll just be that much more prepared for 70-218. If I were in your situation, I don't think I would have walked in there without 70-217. Those are just my thoughts. | |

when i look at your Certs, i would really take 210 first. Then 215 and 218.
Correct me if i am wrong, but can't you use your A+ and Net+ as an elective to skip 70-216?
I would not take 216 first, because it will hit you so hard, it will make your Head spin.We don't call it the "Beast" for nothing.
218 is a collection of 216, 217 and some 215.

| I didn't mean to imply that he should take 70-216 first. He already mentioned that he has passed 70-210 and 70-215. If he only has A+ and he is trying to get the MCSE it would be kind of pointless to go and take N+ just to subsitute for 70-216 since its already required for it. Might as well use 70-216 for the MCSA and MCSE. Just my thoughts. | |

| Actually it was I-net+ I passes not Network+ so nope I couldn't skip my elective. The reason I wanna take 70-216 is simply because it also counts towards my MCSE cert. I just wanted some suggestions on which to take first 218 or 216. I already have passed 210 and 215. | |

Didn't you mean to put in 70-217 after 70-215? I definately would not take 70-218 if I did not have 70-217.

| Well i'm just going by the track on the mcsa handout which has 210 then 215 then 218 then an elective.. 217 isn't even on the mcsa track. Why would they have us take 218 if we needed to take 217 first? | |

| Well, if you take 216 first, 218 will be extremely easy in comparison. However, if you take 218 first it will give you more of a foundation in preparation towards 216 and more experience in Microsoft style testing. Personally, I would take 218 first. I would get as much preparation in for 216 as possible (and taking more Microsoft tests will help you get more comfortable with their testing style and length of questions). Most people think that 216 is the hardest exam out of the core (I agree), so why not prepare for it as much as possible before you take it? Besides, passing the other exams first time around might even give you that extra boost of confidence and enthusiasm you will need for 216. | |
