I passed the 70-210 test today but did not receive a score. It just said I passed. I went to Microsoft mcp FAQ page and got this answer.Q. Why does Microsoft no longer provide scores?

A. Beginning with exams released since December 2001, Microsoft has stopped providing numerical scores as part of ongoing efforts to protect exam security and program integrity. Microsoft replaces exam items regularly to minimize item exposure and to ensure that content remains current. As content is replaced, any changes in content difficulty are counterbalanced by changes in the passing score to ensure that consistent standards are used to certify candidates.

Although this ensures consistency in pass/fail decisions, numerical exam scores are not comparable across exam versions—a score of 800 on one version may represent the same skill level as a score of 900 or 700 on another version. As content is replaced more frequently to combat exam piracy, numerical scores become meaningless—only the pass/fail status maintains meaning.

How are other people getting their scores?

In the past the passing score of 70-210 is about 540. MS just changed the policy with pass/fail.

I checked Microsoft again and I guess the new policy hasn't completely taken effect everywhere yet. Here is what I found.

Q. The exam result report I received after taking an exam doesn't provide feedback. How can I get feedback on my knowledge?

A. Microsoft has changed the format of the exam results report that candidates receive after taking a Microsoft Certified Professional exam. As part of the company’s effort to protect the integrity of Microsoft certifications for MCPs as well as their employers, Microsoft has eliminated numerical score information from the exam results reports. With new exams released beginning December 2001, exam results reports indicate only a pass or fail status. Candidates do not receive feedback on each exam section, and candidates no longer receive an overall numerical score. The results report format for the majority of exams released before December 2001 will make a transition to the new format during 2002.

Thanks for your reply. I just wish I would have been able to see what kind of score I got. Grateful to pass though. On to 70-215!!!

The passing score of 70-215 is about 651 if you take it from prometric. But in several weeks ago when my friend took this the result only appears pass/fail. Good luck for your next exam.

Don't Prometric and Vue use the same tests all from Microsoft?

Yes they both use the same pool of tests. Makes no difference whether you register through Prometric or VUE.

So the moral of the story is just use whichever one out of the two happens to have the better facilities in your area!
