being the bonehead i can be at times i downloaded/installed the .NET framework from the Windows Update site. i am running w2k pro and can not remove the installation. the automatic critical updates program steers me back to the Updates page to install the .NET framework patch. At this point the patch downloads fine but wont install. I suspect the problem to be a corrupted .NET framework installation. Please point me in the right direction as this is a pain. I did read where it said the .NET framework was only a necessary install if the sys had software that required it
