| If you ping the broadcast adress you send an ICMP echo request to all hosts on the network but not all will reply, Unix machines usually replies on broadcast pings but Windows boxes don't. So I'm wondering if it's possible to make a Windows box reply when it receives a broadcasted ICMP echo request. | |

| There are many variables that go into this answer (your posts swede are usually obscure and vague )
For instance the devices used on each network. The size of the broadcast domain of each network. the number of ports on each concentrator. Number of hops to given host.
etc, etc, etc | |

Thanks.
Ok then let me give you an (obscure) example:
If you have a couple of windows machines in a class C network with the broadcast adress 192.168.0.255 and you type
"ping 192.168.0.255" at the command prompt you wouldn't get any replies, right? So how do I configure them to reply when i type "ping 192.168.0.255" at the command prompt? | |
