Opening an addition user's email account in my Inbox
|

|
| I need to monitor the incomming mail of one of my user's email accounts. I want to set their Inbox up on my machine in addition to my own Inbox. I feel kinda stupid because I've set this up before but can't remember how I did it. I can set their Inbox up on my machine but I can not open their Inbox. I got there Inbox added to my Outlook by going to the tool bar on my computer and selecting Tools > Services > Selecting Microsoft Exhange Server > Properties > Advanced > In this dialogue box it asks you which user account you would like to open in addition to yours > I added the user's name and hit ok and apply. So now the user's Inbox is listed in addition to mine but I cannot get into it. It seems to me I had to do something in thier properties of their user Id to allow me access to their Inbox after I added it. But for the life of me I can't find what I need to do to access their Inbox. Please help. thanks | |

| Hi Shaxx,
If that user has not delegated permission to you for their Inbox, (through Tools | Options and then adding you through the Delegates tab) you will not be able to open the contents of their Inbox in your session of Outlook even though you can add their Inbox to your session of Outlook.
When you attempt to open their Inbox, you'll get that error message that states that Outlook can not expand the contents..or something to that effect.
If this needs to be done covertly, their mailbox could be permissioned for you on the Exchange email server (assuming you are using Exchange.
I'm by no means an expert on this, but hopefully it gets you pointed in the right direction.
Good luck to you. |
