Do you think that the MCSA (4 Exams) overtake the MCSE (7 exams)?

Will the MCSE people become a dying breed or will you lot out there still aspire to become MCSE's?

Will company's just hire MCSA's and pay less for their services?

Any thoughts on this?

I expect there will be more MCSAs than MCSEs at some point, when the new cert gets going.

But I also believe that people will still aspire to the MCSE cert - just to "get ahead of the pack" which is often necessary in the IT world...

mcse wont die.
the opposit is true.
more people will go do mcsa and this will make mcse more unique.
and as time will pass mcse will get more money than mcsa but its all depends on other things as well.

Yes, the MCSA will "overtake" the MCSE.

Microsoft, I think, will incent this certification so they can secure a cost of ownership position in the market -- their products will be cheap to own and administer with the MCSA.

If a company already has a network set up, they do not need an MCSE for day to day admin. They will be able to pay less for an MCSA.

Since the MCSA has fewer requirements it is highly likely that it will overtake MCSE in numbers. I think that it will also be used as a stepping stone onto the premium certification designations such as MCSE and MCDBA.

Is it possible to use test you have already taken to get MCSA? or must you retake the test. I spose i could always go look at the ms website.

Yep! You can use your MS exams towards MCSA and complete 70-218!

MCSA cannot replace MCSE.

Be real, not even a MCSE sometime can handle the system problems.

MCSA only a second prize.

As far as numbers, yes the MCSA will surpass the MCSE in a few years. They main reason why is because more organization need only administrators and not designers. Plus, requiring an A+/Network+ or A+/Server+ certification to count as an elective gives some good background knowledge. I know plenty of MCSE who do nothing but network administration and end-user support.

Another thing to consider is that an MCSA will give justification to organizations to pay the individual lower than what he or she would get if they were MCSE. In a way, this could create a boost in the value of the MCSE.
