I have used the Sybex books to study for A+ and Net+ exams and found them very helpful. Has anyone used Sybex books to study for the Win 2k Pro or Server exams? If you have, did you find the books helpful?

terrible books for win2K.
If you buy one, go to sybex.com and download the list of errata...

Ok, and what about ExamGear by Newriders? Are they worth reading?

Well the only Sybex book I own is Mastering Windows 2000 Server 3rd edition by Mark Minasi and have found the content very nice in a clear and understandable and very readable format. Check it out at his web site http://www.minasi.com/

You can purchase it at http://www.bookpool.com/ for $35.50.

Minasi's books are always great quality. Other Sybex books, not written by him, are not as good!

I have always been very pleased with Sybex, but then again, I have never taken any of thew Win2K exams.

I have no complaints about the Sybex books as long as you don't use these soley for your studies....It pays to look at different authors/publishers perspectives on things (ie. Sybex and MS), then if you come across something that doesn't quite make sense in one study guide you dig deep and scour round for more info (it makes learning more fun that way and you get to really know the subject).

Did that make any sense? (I haven't even been to the pub yet!)

Well I have used the sybex book for the Network+ test and found it to be very good.

For the Win2k Pro. I have been using the Microsoft Press Win2k Pro. along with Exam Cram and Alan Carter's MCSE study system. These books are very good, in my opinion. I hope these suggestions help you in your decisions.

Let me rephrase: for the MCSE 2K track, I do not like the Sybex books. For compTIA exams, they are quite good -- especially Net+ and I-Net+...

OK, that's what I was wondering about. I have found them great for CompTIA's and Cisco's exams, but was wondering if they were as good for M$ exams . . . apparently not!
