| Server first. be absolutely positive the hardware is on the HCL. You need to run the chkupgrd.exe program on the server or winnt32/checkupgradeonly. Update all drivers. Update virus files and check for viruses. run a diskscan. Apply the latest service packs. Uncompress any partitions or files that may have been compressed.
Then you can start the upgrade.
Once you have the server done. Then repeat the steps for the PC's. Since you are on a network then Checkout RIS before you do anything. It has to go to a seperate partition on the server(can't be on the system partition)
There is a Whole lot more but this is a start. Do not upgrade until you do more research if you only have one server.
Hope this helps | |

| You may also want to make a backup of your NT server, as once you go 2000, it's not the easiest thing in the world to convert back. Also, there's some profile differences in 2000 that you need to become familiar with. Good luck. All in all, the upgrade for what you have right now should be seemless. | |

| Hire a consultant I am not teasing, but this forum can't help you with that as there are too many unknowns to your equation. We can however give you some pointers, but that is all they will be... | |

| Please understand that I am not refusing to help, just that the undertaking that you are describing requires time, planning and a knowledge of your network that we do not have, nor should have for security reasons.
If you have specific issues, feel free to ask!
Good luck to you... |
