| I recently passed my A+ and was thinking of taking my network+ next, after which I was hoping to get my MCSE, I was wondering what electives would be most beneficial, I think for the core I'm looking at 70-220, I think security is extremely vital in any network environment and I find it extremely interesting. Someone else in these forums mentioned sql being required in a lot of positions, I was thinking about taking both sql electives 70-228 and 70-229, as I have absolutely no experience with it, but then again I have no experience with a lot of the stuff in the electives, I might just end up reading up on a couple of them afterwards, also I will not be getting any training, I will be strictly studying at home, as I can't afford it right now, I will probably try and setup a 2 computer network to get some hands on experience though, the comp I'm using right now is running 2k pro.
Also does anyone know when M$ will be expiring the 2k track, as I do not want to spend a lot of money on the tests and have it fazed out before I even have a job.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. | |

I'm taking the security route as well. I figure it's one of those specialties that'll be around for some time to come. SQL is one of those skills I frequently see in want ads so learning it would definitely be beneficial. I'll probably study it some where down the road. If you don't have access to a network at work then setting up one at home is a must. At least it was for me.
When I studied for the NT4/server/wrkstation exams, the only way for me to get any hands-on training was through my own home network. It made all the deference.
Good luck,
