Troytec vs. Exam Cram

| I currently use Exam Cram for all of my exams but most of the people I run into seem to like Troytec. I've never heard of them until I joined this site. Your opinions on either one would be greatly appreciated.

| Hey freak,
I was under the impression that they were both supplements to study guides. What is your understanding of their purpose?
Both purport to give you the shortened "to the point" information on the exam objectives.
If I am mistaken please correct me.

| Well, I think that they both serve as a "shortcut" method to get through the exam and not giving you enough knowledge and understanding of the complete product. For that purpose one should have a lot lot lot hands-on training and yes.... a real solid foundation of networking.

| I think you are trying to promote either of these sites. But, i know much better resources than you and would rather not mention them on the site as i'm not a sales person.
If anyone wants good references, you can get in touch, i've finished all my 7 exams today..

I can asure you mcp_mcse that I am not trying to promote either of these sites. I could care less if you or anyone else ever visits either company. I was just wondering how Troytec compared to Exam Cram. As well as if other certification candidates prefered one over the other.
I, like everyone else in this forum, am looking for the best way to get the MCSE certification.

There is no doubt about this as there are thousands of resources just like people say
testtech is similar to troytec but no one mentioned about testtech on this site ??
i've also seen people posting there messages and mentioning about some other very good sites, but i never saw those on this site.
You are running a business to earn thru' promotions of specific sites who pay you, & that is the fact.

No, actually, that is not a fact. When my site started, it was a private site only to be used by my colleagues and my students. Word of mouth spread out, and before you know it a lot of people were using my site. I decided to open it to all, and have been blessed with many emails from people who thanked me for the time I dedicated to helping out.
The site grew more still to the point where I get half a million hits every month, and costs to run the site became staggering, between the increasing bandwidth needs and the relocation to a dedicated server. If you have a site, you know how expensive that can be. I was then faced with the choice of allowing advertising on the site, closing it down, or making people pay for the content. The lesser of the three evils to me was to choose advertising.
Sometimes I break even, sometimes I don't. This is not a business, it is a helping hand to the community who took me in and has been good to me.
My business is to be a network engineer. That is how I feed my family and provide a roof above their head.
As for the other company you mention, I have never heard of them, therefore I am not able to talk about their products. For your information, I only let advertisiers whose products I care for advertise on my site.
Before you accuse people, check your facts.

Your missing the point Jack, I agree with Wilbur and I honestly think your a bit bored and feel like starting a little argument. No worries, we can do that. The reason I'm up for this one is simple, Freak is one of the best people out there, always willing to answer questions and give support.
Freak has helped sooooooooooooooooo many people through the wonderful road of not only MCSE, but other certs as well. Good resources are always posted here and on Freaks site. I'm not sure what your talking about there. If you have used something and like it or dislike it, bless everyone with that knowledge. Lots of other people do. The whole point of this little question was what people thought of certain products. Ta da, that's been done  The reason it sounds fishy with your resources, is because you ask people to email you. Like I said before if ya like it, post it, if you don't...well post that too. We're here to help each other. | |

| AT least Exam Cram explains things. Troytec just gives you facts with no explaination. But for the price, it's pretty good! | |

| This is a difficult one tis one. I used ExamCram for 210 and 215 (along with braindumps and Tran$cenders) whereas for 216 I used ExamCram, braindump and Troytec. The examCram was a good source to quickly get the info in but to get me through the exam it was the Troytec. What I tend to do though is firstly read the ExamCram then do Tran$cenders then Braindumps/Troytecs. I think you need a combination of them all. | |

| I have been studying for about four years now. I have two degrees, plus my certifications. I am still amazed when I find new sites out there with info. I think we all have our own resources and they are all just about the same. Just different names. The best experience is hands on, with books to supplement and if you are lucky enough an employer who has a lab that you can practice in. | |

| Well, I have had Freak give me advice, not only about tests but career advice as it relates to being a MCT. He seems to like helping people better themselves. I too come here to help encourage and motivate others more than get advice. But when I have needed some advice Freak has been sincere with his advice and help. Find someone else to criticize about being commercialized. As I prepare to teach MCSE 2000 classes I plan on giving my students his web site as a resource along with examnotes.net, regardless of the advertisers he selects because he does has a great web site.
As it relates to the Examcram vs. Troytec issue, I have used both and would have to say it depends on your experience level.
I took the 70-240 and due to my overconfidence did not study enough and failed. I re-read the MOC and bought the Troytec's to be 100% sure I passed each individual one. Currently, I am preparing to take the Network+ test and I bought just the Examcram Q&A book just to be sure there wasn't anything earth shattering in there. If I was concerned about not passing it because of irrelevant material being asked I would have bought the Troytec. So I guess it depends on how concerned you are about passing in the first place. I know many people in here do not like Troytec or Cheetsheets ect., but I don't have time to read the books twice and take endless practice exams. Thus, I have chosen to read the MOC's and use the products hands on and when it comes time to get the paper to prove what I know, take the most precise manner I can find to study and pass.

| I was wondering whether you have the slightest idea about the purpose of a forum ? I respect your opinion, but I also believe it is inappropriate .... Who cares about any sites here and whether you make .000001 cent per hit referral ???? we are here to get feedbacks, learn from others and pass the exams ... and this is why we use forums like this one. Pardon me, but your comments "are fishy" as someone said ....
