| I have an idea!
Dam it I cannot edit the poll...man that sucks. THerefore I apologise about the spelling in the Poll.
What would ppl think of a company offering use of a remote system to train on?
There would be a small admin fee of course just wondering what all your thoughts are?
And what would you be willing to pay for such a service?

| I think that is real good idea... I know there is a website that does this with Cisco routers, I forget the name though. It would be nice for people who cant afford to set up a network at home to mess around on. I would probably be willing to pay somewhere around 12-15 bucks an hour.... or maybe a good deal on a flat fee for a week or whatever. It really depends on the features and all.. Ya know what exactly can I do? Can I do remote installs and such? Or can I just configure the display settings..........? Good luck if you roll this out! | |

| Not too sure what it will entail, at the moment I'm trying to get a feel to see if it would be viable...then look more indepth as to how to achive it and ensure that it offers all that is required.
Good comments though....thanks.

| Hey Yeti my man,
I think that is a grat idea
Not only for people at home but for people who are taking the courses at school and want some extra zing zang to play with when they get home. Or people like me, who can't seem to detach the computer from my body, and love playing.
Yeah I am sitting here in antisipation wondering what it will all entail....what will you allow 'us' ('us' being the mob of society) to do? How difficult will this be to set up for you? You'll defidently need to get some good back-up or security on your end, since people like me may mess things up royaly trying things out. If you need help just give me a buzzzzz.
By the way, where's great yeti-hunter Cadman lately, I haven't seen him around in a while....did you eat him?

| Yeti-GBR1,
Sounds like a great idea. Can you give us some idea capabilities you are thinking about offering?

| Just to want to tell you that my experience with the terminal service come with Windows 2000 server use more than 200Kbps bandwidth and sure you will need a broadband connection to do that. Where as the Citrix server/client use less than 20Kbps. See, that is no free lunch in this world. | |

| Ok, so far there are only 3-4 ppl that would be interested in this service. Depending on what you want the system to do then that will didctate which way I will be looking at delivering such a solution. So what sort of services would you want and what would you require of it?
- Ability to test out Forest Group/Policies etc....?
- Ability to use Active Directory to connect to sites etc.....?
- Ability to Configure/Administer either Server or Workstation.....?
- Ability to setup DHCP/DNS/WINS on the server.....?
- What....?
Give me more to go on and I will try my best to come up with something. Also what would you be willing to pay for such a service? And NO it will not be FREE since it will require some rather expensive SW/HW!!!

| What not free...hahaha
Well Yeti, I'm very interested.
Testing GPO's, sites, testing dchp/dns, remote install, i'd cancel out terminal services if it uses that much bandwidth. I really do think it's a great idea, but your right, there's no point for you to go through all this trouble to get this set up to help people when no one seems that interested.
Come on...it's a great opportunity people! It doesn't matter if you have a home network set up or not! More practice the better. I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to spend, but if you charge by the hour, maybe 15-18?? Or like Lagavulin said a flat rate for a week's access. I'll check around and see if I can recruite anyone that might be interested too.

| Come on ppl I'm trying to help you lot Please give me some feedback on this!!!!! | |

| I'm lucky enough to have a server etc at home so wouldn't be interested...but you asked for feedback, and feedback you get. I ain't trying to dis your offer, I have just experienced how frustrating it is to make a serious post and not receive support.
Good luck, I suspect this'll be one of those things that suceeds when people see how useful it is.

| I came across this link http://elab.propoint.com/ that appears to being doing what you are talking about. You may want to check it out to get some ideas on functionality and pricing.
