Is this stuff any good for the tests? I have a copy of it, and it seems very intense and over the top. How much does it actually relate to the actual 210 test? I feel like my time might be spent studying transcenders and troytech. Has anybody else used this and taken the test?

What stuff are you refering to? The only thing that is over the top, is the actual exam. I was blown away by some of the questions in Trancender, but when I took the actual test, I was in awe of the detail of some of the questions. Any study material you can get your hands on is good study material.

I meant is the self-test software any good. I really don't have time to go through every book, and every practice test I find for each test.

It depends on the software you use. If you are planning on taking the exams, I would recommend that you use them to supplement something like Examcram. These tests are not pushovers, even for someone with a current MCSE NT4. The differences between NT4 and 2000 appear on the surface to be subtial, but really run deep. Active Directory being the main one, but also functions in DNS, RRAS, DHCP and Disk Management. Unless you are an absolute genius with the power to reason things out while having limited knowledge of the subject, I would recommend some sort of book study. You might be pressed for time, but when you have to pay $100 everytime you don't make it by a test, not to mention the time it takes to sit the actual exam......Some time invested up front will save you time in the long run. I don't know of any shortcuts for this cert.

I've already read a 700 page book on windows 2000. I just want to know if self-test software is overkill. I don't have the luxury of spending a month on each test.

I wouldn't recommend taking anyt tests without going through some sort of self test software. If for nothing else, to get used to the question format, and verify your knowledge. You might not need a month for each test, but I would plan on a week per test, and maybe 2 for 70-216. Just hate to see someone throw away $100 because they were in a hurry.

"Self Test Software" is the name of the product he is referring to. Just like Transcender, or ExamDrill etc.

My suggestion, not recommended the "STS"
