Author Microsoft Press books or MOC?

Ok I am getting confused again ...go figure!

When you refer to MOC is that:
Microsoft Press books or
The OFFICAL Microsoft curriculum?

I attend school and it was explained to me by them, that if a school is not certified to train they are not using Microsoft Official Curriculum. They are using MS Press books. And apparently those books are not sufficient (like the ones I am issued are!)

What in the world is the difference? Does anyone know?

The reason I asked is that I am trying to find something a bit more informative to study than the Microsoft Official Curriculum that I was issued with my $3400.00 worth of courseware/Instructor led 8 days of class (if that tells you anything) That supposedly covers exam 70-210 and 70-215.

I have searched through the different threads and I know I have asked this question someplace and I just cannot seem to find the thread!

What experiences have any of you had with the different forms of study material? Sybex? Exam Prep? Trancenders? Troy tec? I am so afraid of throwing money away on Bad instruction manuals! Any helpful information would be appreciated!

Hi Flynmonkie,
Well I use the MOC's. They are BIG blue binders, which are quite good I think. I didn't find the one for 216 to be that great, but all the others are excellent. I highly suggest though going through both MOC's for 210 and 215 before you take either test, they kinda blend them together. Tranceders are really good(get the credit card ready for them though$$$)they give good explanations for all there questions, they tell you why the right answer is right, and why the others are wrong, Self test software also does a good explanation for their quesions. My funds are limited so I use as much free stuff as I can. Use as many study guides as you can, they are usually free, examnotes has some really good study guides, www.mcseguide.com and cramsession.com both have really good study guides as well.
Hope this helps

HiYa Techie2b!

Yes those Big Binder blue books are what I have! It just seems there is more information in others. I have heard that the Resource Kit is better so I wonder if I should invest the $$ there also. Unfortunately, the big blue books I have been issued by the school are a misprint of some sort and their response to me about exchange is that they are not quite sure what they are going to do about it, or when. So unfortunately I am going to have to buy some "additional" study materials, UGH!

I am familiar with the trancenders and they are supposed to have copies of the Troy Tec to issue me in the second half of the courses that cover 70-210 and 70-215. But until then I seem to be stuck with material that seemingly is insufficient.

We shall see
Thanks so much for your help in this!

Hey your welcome
grrr. The school should be getting that all figured out about the MOC's for you. That is what you paid for!! The only MOC I was disapointed with was the one for 216, and it was good, I just didn't think it was enough.
But if you have to buy some books in the mean time, I hear the resource kits and exam cram books are good Also use Microsoft technet and the helpfiles in the W2K server, there good and free

Let me know if I can help

Just an idea....I noticed when I studied for the 70-210 (any of them for that matter!) I learn in a more well rounded way..when I learn from more than one book...and most important..clickin' that lil mouse!
I hope this helps your studies....
