Author Just how long did it actually take you to study and pass WIndows 2K classes?

When Win 2K came out I had many say "OMG this is going to be so much more difficult to get through". I wonder just what people are saying now? How long did it take you to study and pass the exams those with experience and without. How available is the study assistance out there and do you really reccomend working with it on a daily basis, if you don't what are some suggesstions? What is the hardest of the exams...just your own personal experiences I guess.

Well, now that I am officially an MCSE 2000, here is what I think of te endeavor:
1. Yes, definitely much harder than the 4.0 stuff. I passed all 6 exams for 4.0 track in 3 weeks, 2 exams a week, and it took me about 6 weeks to get 210 215 216 217 and 219.
This taking into account the fact that I am used to MS exams this time around, and that I have been teaching the 4.0 material ever since I became an MCSE 4.0, meaning I had the basis down pat to get into the w2k track
2. The exams are harder than the 4.0 were, because of the format. I had a question in my last test, with 11 possible answers and a choose all that apply with no mention of how many actually applied
3. the 216 and 217 exams are really tougher than the Net Ess and Enterprise were, especially 216.
4. The design exams are totally new in terms of format, and therefore can be quite puzzling at first.
5. Don't despair! It is obviously obtainable a goal, but get in thinking it is going to be a walk in the park. As usual, forget about the dumps and install the OS as soon as you can and play. These exams will test your book AND hands-on knowledge.
Good luck to you all!

I started studying seriously in mid September and took 2 exams in October (210 and 215), 2 in November (216 and 217), and 1 in December.

I already had my MCSE in NT4 and am an MCT. I've been playing with W2K since beta, running my laptop and home desktop with W2K Pro.

I set up a three machine networked lab at home, using old PII 233 machines with removeable harddrives.

I used MOC and MOSG for the 210-217 exams, and MOC and Examprep for the 219 exam.

So far, the 216 was my hardest exam.

Currently trying to decide whether to take 220, 221, 224, 227, or 228.

I started studying for the 240 test at the end of November using the MOC, and Sybex' study guide and failed it on December 18th. I would stay away from the 240! However, just using the Troytecs to finish the individual exams I took Professional on Dec. 26th and finished my last one on January 23rd. I would say it can be done with the study materials out there but take them seriously! I studied about 35-40 hours per week before each exam. And before taking the Designing tests download the practice exam to try it before you test so you can see the format.

Just some observations!

I am not certified with NT 4.0 and I am headed down the MCDBA track. I just started classes for the 70-210 and 70-215 exams.
I feel pretty comfortable with things so far...but CIDR subnetting and Permissions I know will be a bit confusing. I have the MOC but I think I am going to purchase the Exam Prep for the 70-215 and work towards that. We shall see!
