Moving location of Documents&Settings
|
|
|
| There's probably a really simple answer to this, but does anyone know how to move the location where Windows 2000 keeps the 'Documents & Settings' info (i.e from C: to E: )?
Thanks,

| Right click My Documents and choose properties. In the space for target, type in the drive and share name. | |

| Thanks - that works on a user by user basis. It'd be easier if we could just change the default location for all users to something like E:\data\%username%
Any ideas if we can do this?

| Ever heard of "ROAMING USER PROFILES?" I suggest you do a search on the the windows 2000 "Online Docs" @ Microsoft's Technet site and see how it works, mind you you do need a server with Active Direcory on it and use the Group Policies!!! sure beats doing it user by user | |

Yeti,
Care to explain? I don't follow you.
I can, and have, set up roaming profiles without using group policies. It means that you have to manually enter the path in the properties of each user account, whereas a GPO could direct all users affected by the GPO to the proper location.
I can also use a standard member server as the location for profiles. It doesn't have to be a domain controller (you specified that it needs Active Directory on it).
Am I misunderstanding you? |
