When Microsoft expired the TCP/IP exam and seemed to have meshed it with the core exams does it seem like some of the content was lost?

Should Microsoft make an advanced TCP/IP test for an elective?

Maybe they are saving something for the newer version of IP

In fact they do. It is 70-221 Designing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure. One objective of the exam is Design an Internet and extranet access solution. Components of the solution could include proxy server, firewall, routing and remote access, Network Address Translation (NAT), connection sharing, Web server, or mail server.

This exam is right up there with the Novell TCP/IP for Network Professionals exam and the Cisco Routing exam (BSCN)

Also when Microsoft raised the bar for windows 2000 certification TCP/IP became assumed knowledge so to speak.
That is you were assumed to have that level of knowledge when you begin the MCSE track.
Same for network essentials.
