Just a general question,

On a W98 box I can go to Start Run and type msconfig and see the Autoexec. Ini and Startup. Is there a similar feature on W2000?

Thanks.

There is no such command as MSconfig on Win 2k. However, I have always gotten away with using third party software =)

Anyways, "Reg Cleaner / regcleaner" is an awesome program that will not only allow you to take over win 2k startup options, but it will also help you keep the registry clean.

You can copy msconfig from 98 to Win2k if you are dual-booting are from a floppy, but you will not get config. autoexec, sys.ini win.ini or winstart.bat you will be limited to general and startup tabs

That makes sense with the exception of win.ini those files do not exit in Win2K. Great tip ddogp on the copy of msconfig files from 98 I'll give it a try.

Win XP has the Msconfig program back in it. And you can also use it with Win 2k.
