| I want to do my mcse 2000, I have Cisco - CCNA and CompTIA A+ and planning to get Network +. After I would like to do MCSE 2000 and I wonder if I sould do it in self study with 3 computers and books or in a instructor led class at expensive price.
Can anyone help me out ?
Thanks ! | |

| Save the money for computers and self study.

| I agree.
I am A+ also and will be sitting for my N+ in about a week.
After that I will go for MCSE2000. I have found that learning with videos and having a lab set up at home is just as good if not better than class. You get the same instruction but you can rewind it and watch it again...plus you get to go at your own pace. Yes, the videos are expensive but not near as expensive as classes.
It's like the best of both worlds...
in my opinion.
Good Luck,

| Guys, I have to disagree. I have passed 4 MCSE 2K exams so far, and I have to say that without taking the classes I would have been in trouble. You can give it a shot I suppose but I would not recommend it

one good thing I learned about taking the classes is the sharing of information amongst other classmates..they might have a completely different system they are working on and bring information about that into the classroom. Especially with such a new platform.

| I agree with freak I am in a Win2K curriculum right now and I find the info I get everyday invaluable. I am also going to set up a small network at home for practice on my own. But part of the curriculum is setting up a network from scratch in class so if I have a prob I can get an answer instantly. I am also lucky in that I just landed a job(help desk but its a start ) that will pay for my schooling so I guess I'm in a good spot.
The Microsoft program lasts about a year and goes into great detail about Win2k.

| Personally- I have passed 210, 215, 216, 217, 219 all by self study.
(and A+, Network+, I-NET+, W98, all NT4)
Professionally- As an MCT, I highly recommend that you take instructor-led courses.
In real life- I went through a two week night class once. Hated it. I'd rather get the MOC and do the stuff at my own pace. To each his own.

| I too would like to use the MOC but I thought the only way to get ahold of it was to take one of the classes. Or am I just loosing what's left of my mind?
