Author MCP to MSCE 2000

2000-06-04, 5:49 am

Hi, My company wants us to get an MCP rating with the possibility of the MCSE 2000 certification down the road.
Between NT4 workstation or Win98 (70-098), which would be the better choice ? I understand NT4 W/S will be retired this year, while no announcement has been made on Win98.

Is one easier than the other ????
We use both at work.
Thanks,
Netman

Well, the NT4 exam is a LOT easier than the Widnows 98 exam. But all the same, I can't see either one staying around much longer with the new Win2000 certs out now.

Definately take the NT 4.0 Workstation exam for the sole reason that W98 does not count toward the MCSE 2000 upgrade path (if you decide to pursue 2000 certifcation down the line) I also found the Workstation exam more practical to the business model. Most (but not all) business run a Server/Workstation NT 4.0 environment versus a Server/9x environment. Just my two cents, good luck with your studies

If you are going to MCSE 2000, why not condsider taking 70-210 (W2K Professional). It will count for MCP and give you credit for the track.
