2000 Server or Professional

| Hey guys, I was just wondering if someone were wanting just MCP status for right now, should they go for server or pro?

| Since you already have an CCNA, I would go for the Server exam. | |
| I'd go with the professional , it's easier.

| Thanks guys, I guess I'll probably take server (maybe to learn more??). | |
| it really all depends on your experience. If you have been a client side guy all your life, then go for Pro. If you have been a SRV guy all your life, then go SRV

| From my own experience it's easier to study for the server after you have passed the workstation (or Professional in Windows 2000 case) than to study for workstation after the server.
Just my opinion

| Strange you should say that Webmaster, I found it the other way round in NT4. Server was so much easier than Workstation but then I am a Yeti

| I agree with Webmaster.
I looked at it and saw that Server built on Workstation, Enterprise built on Server. By doing Workstation first, I had about 80% of Server done. After Server, I had about 75% of Enterprise done.

| Again, thanks for the opinions. Since I'm not going to go for MCSE I'm probably just going to do server just to know it a little better (ok, a lot better). After all there's probably a little more to it than running setup, answering a few questions, being an idiot and setting up AD, and making it PDC with a few other NT4 boxes . Just a tip from Uncle Tony, PROCEED WITH CAUTION. | |
| hey... once u know the server u should know how to operate the professional
the only difference is professional is good if you are networking a peer to peer or workgroup... but if you like to operate a domain.. the server is the killer for more features of it!...

| Oklanaman. I have a question. What is the average starting salary for a CCNA in your area? I hope I don't sound rude I am just curious. I would like to get that cert a LONG TIME from now. I have to get done my MCSE first and get a bunch of experience. If you don't answer, it's cool. Good luck. | |
| I'm hoping mid $40s. I have a little bit of experience, also.
| |
| Oklanman, if you ever consider moving to the Mid-Atlantic region (MD, VA, DE, PA,etc) you can usually start at about 60k. I know a few who have done that. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. | |
| Hey Crazyone, How about Western Colorado? (Montrose specifically) I could only hope. | |
| Look at salary.com It will tell you how much you can make in a certain area. |
