| I will try to answer your question as best I can, I am still a little fuzzy about the details myself. Windows NT 4.0 certifications will all be discounted by Microsoft after Dec. 31st 2001 so unless you upgrade your certification to Win2K by then you will no longer be certified in Microsoft's eyes. If you are trying to obtain an MCSE in NT 4.0 all exams have to be passed and completed by Dec. 31st 2000 in order to be designated as either an MCP or MCSE in NT 4.0 track.
So the decision is up to you, finish the elective exams for NT 4.0 and become MCSE certified for a year and upgrade during the year to WIN2K or start studying for the upgrade now and forget the last elective. It is a few people's opinion that if you have the MCSE NT 4.0 you look like you have be in the industry longer, maybe, maybe not. I think it really boils down to what think is important to you and what you feel will best benifit your career.
That's the way I understand things, if someone else has a better understanding of the situation please feel free to comment, for as always that's "My two cents worth" | |

| If you take an elective that isn't retiring it will count towards your W2K MCSE. Check the status of the elective you already have, if it isn't retiring Dec. 31, 2000, you can count is towards you W2K MCSE as well. If it is TCP/IP or IIS (the common electives everyone likes to take), it retires 12/31/00 and must be replaced with another elective by 12/31/01. |
