| I have my A+ and N+ certifications and am looking to start another certification but am not sure which one. MCSE 2k or CCNA? Which one will help me get a job in a networking environment sooner. Right now I am working on a help desk and am eager to move on. I just don't know which way is best for me to go at this time. Any ideas?

| It depends on what you want to do. What are your IT career goals? If you want to do network and system administration, go with the MCSE. If you want to go towards network engineering and support choose the CCNA.
The MCSE is more software oriented while the CCNA is more hardware based. Decide on the direction you want to go and don't base it on industry trends or fads.

| I agree with bobby. The MCSE and CCNA are completely different. If you want to be on the LAN side of things go for the MCSE, if you prefer WANs, go for the CCNA.

| If you want to be a CCNA, get a network related job first and let the employer pay you to learn networking. I can imagine how difficult to achieve the CCNA without real experience on network consider the borad coverage.

| Why not do both? I have been an MCSE for about two years now. And now I'm about to test for my CCNA. I feel the two are linked intimately to create a complete IT professional. But I agree with the consensus if you can only pursue one choose what direction you want to go. I find that I like LAN\WAN design and implementation more that I like LAN administration. hense the CCNA/CCNP/CCDP and ultimatly CCIE | |

U need hand on experience for CCNA, actually for all certification that u took.
MCSE 2000 is much harder than NT4, if u don't have any experience before.
CCNA vr2zjw said it already.
