| that I was looking for IEAK 4 practice exams, and suppose that I had loads of other exams to swap! Hypothetically interested? | |

| IEAK 4 is expiring at the end of this year.
Shouldn't anyone studying for an IEAK exam be studying IEAK 5? | |

| What's the point! The electives TCP/IP and IIS 4 expire at the end of the year, so that means that MCSE+I is only available for another 2 and a half months OK. So why study for IEAK 5, when there's plenty of material for IEAK 4? IEAK 5 isn't going to be a top elective within the Win2K MCSE and when you're one exam away from MCSE+I, you rech the same goal with less effort!

| Hi,
First of all, the MCSE+I is not going to expire till the end of 2001 and the new standard has not been ste by Microsoft. Also IEAK 4 will expire therefore if you take this and the new standards came out, you'll have to take the IEAK 5 exam to keep your status. Why for IEAK 4 instead of IEAK 5 in order to continute the status.
BTW, IEAK 5 is my last one to take to get MCSE+I.

| OK, so what about TCP/IP? Yep you've got IIS 5 & IEAK 5, but what about the fundemental exam, (which should be core). They're not replacing this one! So what now?? | |

| For TCP/IP, it'll be in the Win2K core.

| Exactly, it is part of the Core requriements for MCSE+I and it retires on December 31st. So, you have a years grace before the MCSE+I qualification is retired, period. Microsoft, as far as I know, are not using the MCSE+I with Windows 2000. | |

| If you already have TCP/IP & IIS 4 as electives for your MCSE these will not apply as electives toward the Win2k MCSE. I know a lot of people in this situation. You do have the option by having passed Server, Enterprise & Workstation of taking the Accelerated exam which I hear is a b*tch. This is a one shot deal and if you don't pass you have to pass the NEW Core 4 exams. Back to TCP/IP & IIS 4, what this means is, there are two more tests to pass to retain your certification, plus the new 3rd Win2k required elective. Unless you have passed other electives that are not going to be retired that can take the place of TCP & IIS. I've chosen to study IEAK5 now, which granted there aren't as many resources available, but it is an elective for the Win2k MCSE. If they do come up with a new MCSE+I I'm sure IEAK5 will be a part of it. But that probably won't happen until later in 2001 because if you have the MCSE+I before Dec. 31, 2000 it will not expire just like the NT 4 MCSE until Dec. 31, 2001. I figure I'll have enough to contend with next year. Why add to the list?

| Well, I am on my last test and am taking IEAK5. I figure I would have the same chance at passing either one. There isn't that much difference between the two. Well, maybe a little, but not that much for me to go back to IEAK4

Wow, and I thought this was a dead forum. Of course all the post are in one thread. The one advantage I see to going with IEAK 5 is it is not retiring after the first of the year, so you can spend your time studying W2K stuff instead of worrying about them and another elective or two. That's my 2 cents worth.
