Author Real-Life Directory Replication Problem

Hi All -
It's been awhile since I've posted a message here, but this is usually a good forum for answers. Here's my dilemma:

I have 2 Exchange 5.5 srvrs, both with SP4. I have created 2 sites and have created a Site Connector to join the two. I've also created a Directory Replication Connector between them. They are both using the same NT account for Exchange Administration privileges. When I go to Site1 and access the Site Connector properties, everything is fine. When I go to Site2 and do the same function I get an insufficient access rights error, followed by a message telling me that I cannot add or remove servers from the Target Servers tab. When I go to the Target tab, I receive: "The object cannot be found in the directory. This may be because replication has not completed".

Ideally, what I am trying to accomplish is replication between Site1 and Site2 so that I can see the users from Site2 on Site1.

Anybody have any ideas? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Anybody????

With so many of you passing this exam recently, I was hoping at least one person would attempt a response here

Hello GirlGeek,

Before I attempt to answer your question, let me ask you some questions to help me analyze your situation.

Is both of the Exchange 5.5 Servers installed in separate domains and under a PDC each? If yes, did you configure trust relationship between them? If no, how are they installed as? What type of link do you have between the two servers? If possible, please provide other details.

Happy New Year!!!

Both are on the same domain, as two separate sites. I have a Site Connector set up between the 2 as well as a Directory Replication Connector. Refer to my original post in this thread - that pretty much sums up my scenario.

Thanks.

Before anything else, be careful in changing settings and testing on production servers.

First, let's see if you can do remote management. Using the server at site1, run the exchange administrator program (EAP), you should see site1 without any problem, now, still at the server at site1 and the EAP, try to connect to the server at site2 (under the file menu, select connect to server). You should have no problem as well. Check if you have the appropriate rights.

Go to the server at site 2, and do the same thing and you should be able to browse without any problem.

Actually, if you're using the same user to administer both exchange site, you should be able to remotely administer the 2 server fully at any NT4 computer. Unless there is a mis-coniguration of privileges.

Whether you have problem or not with the above task, At each site, check the permission of the 3 container object: organization, site and configuration container object. Make sure that at each site the exchange administrator have appropriate permission (Permission Admin).

Good Luck!

Hope that helps.
