Just looking for another way to say MCSE! :P

I didn't do it with as much style as you other guys, though. I got a 766. Lowered the bar...diluted the gene pool...there goes the neighborhood...

Hey, wait a minute. I passed this honker.

Actually, I think I'm more relieved than glad, but I'm pretty glad, too! Monkey is off my back for a few months. Feels great.

About two thirds of the questions were questions that were based on the Sybex. Some I'd never seen before, but if I'd taken a little more time and looked over the mandatory chapters, I think I would have figured them out. Not as many questions on migration as there were backups! One scenario, one of the questions out of the Sybex with the protocols and all the ports...with some authentication twists. Also, what do you do with a -1018 error? And if your service account gets deleted? And if you actually go and USE a recovery server...

I'd tell you, but I lent out my Sybex right after the test!

Anyway, I made it. Kang, if I can figure out enough on the fly with this stuff, anyone can. Just keep your nose in the Sybex and you'll do fine. You'll be surprised at what sinks in. I was! Go get em.

Courvoisser, my email is kingsway4u@yahoo.com. Look forward to hearing from you.

And thank you all for your posts in this forum. It was encouraging to see what madness everyone went through for this, and thanks for ALL the help and encouragement.

Hey,

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Man why did you have to go and do that by putting more pressure on me?

I was just looking over some of the study materials/questions from a few sources I have and reconfirmed what I already knew...I don't know squat compared to what I should for this one!!!

Anyway, I am really happy for you..Another one who can enjoy Thanksgiving, not me(boo hoo!)...I guess that I will just have to break down and reread the suggested chapters and hope that is enough....I hope I can find the time....By the way, I noticed that you used Exam Essentials and Transcenders..Were they worth the effort? Not sure how to approach this test with so little time left!!..

Anyway, go out there and enjoy yourself in the land of EUPHORIA..I hope I will be able to join you some day!!! Take care don't down too many brewskies!!!

I didn't use Transcenders this time, nor ExamCram/ExamPrep/Coriolis (my personal favorite overall), although I did go out to Coriolis' web site this afternoon and took one of their online Exchange tests. It was a good test. The only ExamEssentials questions I have are the freebies. I think there were a total of about 40 questions or so for Exchange...they were okay, and they made you think, but I don't remember seeing anything like them on the exam.

While I think of it, there were no questions about forms (Ch 8) on my exam...and there's more than one way to express Admin /n /t.

This is the first exam I've only ever used one book for (the Sybex).

In regards to the exam I had, the thing that helped me the most, after I finished reading the whole book, was to go back through ALL the chapter review questions at least twice. Not so you'll memorize the questions, but they'll show you where you need to brush/read up. I went back and caught a couple of things that way. And although the 2 bonus tests on the CD have 75 questions each, try to go through those at least 3 times if you can. Don't be discouraged by low first-time scores the first time through them.

Keep plugging away. That's the main thing.

Hi again,

Thanks for some more tips...I thought that I saw somewhere where you said you were using Transcenders and Exam Essentials...oh well, see my brain is like a disaster area!

Yea, I seem to recall some comment somewhere about admin/n/t being represented differently..I will have to check to see where I have seen that....Did you freak with the error 1018 or the recover server type questions...I have a feeling those might be part of the extra 5 questions that are alledgedly beta types...You never really know with those guys...I know what you mean about Exam Cram etc..I have used those with great success before andpractice tests..Didn't/don't feel all that comfortable just using the Sybex book although I do have the MS MOC Exchange Server book too, but it is about 1400 pages!!! So I am just using it as a cross reference....Ok, tomorrow since it is too late tonight because I was doing some practice questions..I will try to reread as much as I can on the suggested chapters...Although it is going to be tough next 2 days with Thanksgiving preparations and then Thanksgiving...I wish I could go hide in a monastery for a week or so!!! Anyway, then I will try all the chapter questions and I will try the endless bonus tests just to make myself more depressed...I wish those turkeys would include explanations!!

Anyway, not the best time to be studying for an exam people will be here and noise etc etc..I have to get it together though before I am the only one left here on this thread!!!

Getting paranoid about it...Anyway, enjoy your success you earned it...I HOPE I can say the same very soon because I really could use a break from these endless exams!!!

Thanks again and take care...I'll check in tomorrow to see if anyone is left here(just kidding)...My monkey is really getting heavy right now!! See ya.

Kang if it makes you feel any better, i'm just starting to study for this bear. After reading your (and others) comments about the Sybex book, I promptly ordered it from bn.com!!
I also have the Exam Essentials for this test and plan on looking at it. I'd like to get this test out of the way in the next couple of weeks then only one more (Proxy) before the end of the year.

Sounds like you don't have too much to be worried about regarding this exam...you seem prepared so don't spoil your holiday by studying the whole time. I'd be glad to take that monkey off your back when you're done with it!!

AND A HARDY C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S !!!!
to you Kingsway4us............. very nice, quite a success story going here in the old forum.

A couple of comments if I may, (1) Kang if you took it tomorrow I would bet you would be successful with the exam. Do not beat yourself up about this exam, read over the suggested chapters do the end of chapter questions and the bonus test on the cd and you will be prepared. The next few days may be dificult to find time and a quiet place, but hang in pardner. (2) welcome ciscoteacher to our little corner of the world, is for your own personal reasons that you are trying to finish the two exams before Dec. 31st? The two exams 70-81 and 70-88 are not retireing and do not have to be completed by Dec. 31st and if you have the four core exams completed by then you can still attain MCSE in Win NT 4.0 after Dec. 31st Soooooooo

Again congratulattions to Kingsway4us, welcome aboard to ciscoteacher and Kang, as the the guy says in Water Boy, "You Can Do It" Happy Thanksgiving everyone and May God Bless each one of you...........FUBAR

2000-11-23, 4:54 am

Thanks, FUBAR. Have yourself a great Thanksgiving and enjoy the season. I still can't conceive 1000. Wow. Best I could do was 866 on Essentials, and I thought that was pretty good at the time!

Kang, I know you're shaking your head, but FUBAR is most likely right. You could probably pass this thing right now. If you just take this Thanksgiving day off, enjoy it and let yourself relax a little, you're going to find that you haven't forgotten anything on Friday! You'll be okay.

And welcome to Ciscoteacher. A couple of weeks...I know it can be done. A co-worker of mine went out to the dumps, read the Sybex, did the questions and passed with the minimum score. He did it in 2 weeks. Gotta give him credit. At my age, if I tried that, I think I'd have a breakdown. A month was the best I could do. Good luck!

Hi guys,

Only have a few minutes here, but thought that I would check in to say thanks for the nice comments...Yes, tonight has been kinda a washout between shopping for the food and getting the turkey ready for tomorrow...Well, you are right kingsway4us I am shaking my head right now...I look back at the details and some of the questions I have seen in various places and cannot conceive how I will be ready for this sucker in the time left.....Still need to reread the chapters yet. I hope I can do it and hit some exams with not so much time....

I will have more on this later after the tryptophan in the turkey wears off!!!

Ciscoteacher, welcome to the club and thanks for the encouragement..I will be more than happy to pass the monkey over to you if you like!!! Then when I am done maybe you can pass along the secrets for CCNA, my next goal.

Anyway, gotta run right now but will check in tomorrow if possible or Friday...Happy Thanksgiving all!!!! I really do appreciate all your support through this one...I am starting to really stress out too much!! Take care...
