Author Passed IIS 4.0

2000-12-30, 4:34 am

Passed 70-087 today. The test itself is fairly straight forward - 9 SIMS and 4 ODBC errors, a lot of Index server and Site server express stuff. Also NNTP. Make sure to learn authentication/assigning permissions for WEB sites/virtual directories, Grant/Deny access config. CGI ,ISAPI and ASP(extensions). Beware of ambiguos instructions on some SIMS. Used MOC, Sybex IIS 4.0, EE 5.5 and CICprep.
Thanks to valuable contributions to this forum especially from Freak (He is of course the 'MAN'), Seeker, Spid and many many others. I could not have done it without you guys !
Here is an abbreviated ODBC error list that might be helpful:
1. "Data Source Not Found and No Default
Driver specified"
- Data Source Name not configured
correctly (NOT Database name)
2. "Unable to find resources"
- ODBC driver not configured
3. "Logon Failure"
- The user has insufficient (NTFS) rights
4. "Login Failed"
- Insufficient permissions to logon
/connect to SQL database
5. "Jet Database,Cannot open file"
- Insufficient user (IUSR)permissions
6. "General Network Error. Check your
network document"
- Database has been moved (Due to heavy
use)
7. "General Network Error"
- SQL server computer renamed
8. "SQL Server Driver, Connection Open
(Create File)
- Insufficient permission to logon
/connect to SQL Server

Thanks also to the admins/moderators of this

Congrats Zephyr! I am working on IIS as we speak. Which of the two did you find more beneficial, EE 5.5 or CICPrep? Thanks!

ItduzantMatter:

EE 5.5 is very good. So is CICPREP. Yiddo is right about simulations in CICPREP. EE 5.5 has 'similar' questions to the one on test.
NOT word for word. I got more questions on Index server, Site server and NNTP than normal I think based on postings by others.
The pool of questions is probably large for this exam and of course everyone will get some 'common' questions. Do not rely on ONLY one source or two. Get exposure to good reliable sources that have been posted in this forum before. More importantly, become familiar with the concepts, as there are contradicting answers to some of the questions on the test.

Good Luck !

Congrats buddy, but y should take MCSE 2000 instead MCSE+I that will be extinct (for a while, at least...)

Think about that.
