we must take replacement exam before 12/2001?

| I was just at Microsoft's site, and it says that candidates must take a replacement exam for this exam on or before 12/2001. Does anyone know what that means? I know the exam and the NT 4 track is expiring, but if this exam is going to be useless, should we even bother to take it??? | |

| Think about it. all the winnt 4 track is expiring on that date. Your mcse 4 will not be valid. I can only speak for myself on this one, but I believe having this cert helps in the long run. Since iis 5 is part of the win2k and is close to iis 4, this helps you in 2 ways. 1) gives you the cert now and 2)also helps you with the technology and some good knowledge. This is my 2 cents worth, nothing fancy. | |

Appart from the NT4 core subjects that are retiring there are also some of the electives that are.TCP/IP and IIS are two of them and these are also my two electives.
I'm NOT sorry about doing them though because with W2k TCP/IP has been encorporated into the core subjects, and apparently if you have not done TCP you will struggle with this.
Another way of going about this is by getting an NT-CIP certification with LANOP.
They will keep your NT4 certification valid after Desember 2001. Go to their site www.LANOP.com

| Don't waste your time with lanop. they have no valid contract with any test center. also in ny they are under investigation for not being licensed. it is buyer beware.. | |

| They had them in the news on channel 4nbc, think it was dateline. the guy wouldn't answer the questions. I know they have one over off of i believe 2nd ave and 42st by the un. I used to work on 1st ave at coned and seen the signs..also they had a post in a computer mag about them, not good i am afraid. Would be nice if their was a real general type cert.. | |
