Sorry for my ignorance but netware 5.1 doesn't have a client platform like NT workstation or 2000 Professional does it.

Netware is just a server platform and you install the client software on a client PC running win2k or win 9X.

Is this right.

Correct. Netware is very, very different from the Windows stuff, but if you want to learn it, keep at it. It's great to know platforms aside from MS. Also, I think Netware is beginning to see a resurgence in the IT market, so the knowledge will help.

Just another question what client OS(eg 2000 or w98) should i use to install 5.1 client software on.

Either one or the other or both. There are versions of the Netware client available for most of the Windows OSes. I don't think Win 3.1 is supported with the newer clients though, so you'd have to use a DOS version. The current version for NT/2000 is 4.83, and 3.32 for Win 95/98. Both client versions are on SP2.

You can download the clients here
