I'd like to finish up my CNE on 5.0 and then upgrade to 6. I have already taken the first test. I did take GroupWise 5 as well but it appears to have expired. Novell has updated their Certification path as of January 31st and they no longer mention the 5.0 Tests, just the 5.1. They do mention the test numbers for 5 under the 5.1 information and the fact that they haven't yet retired but don't mention a time frame for them to retire. I'm willing to get everything finished by Oct when the NetWare 6 test is needed, but I'm worried that in the middle of my studies the 5.0 tests I have taken will become worthless. Any advice? Also in addition to having taken one of the 5.0 tests my employer is using mostly old versions of Netware 5.0 is the newest they have and they still have some old 4.11 and a couple 3.1x machines. I have no real desire to even pursue 6 and will only do so with the upgrade test to keep my certification current.

As you mentioned above, Novell doesn't mention 5.0 tests in their progress chart and i couldn't find any info that agnowledges that they haven't retired ..

You could of course send an email to edcustomer@novell.com and ask them specificly ..

I went through this myself when they transitioned from 4.11 to 5.

The way I remember it working was if they retired an exam or a certification path, there was a cut off date you had to test by. As long as you tested by that date and passed, the exam counted toward your cert.

It's been a few years, so they may have changed the policy - give them a call and find out for sure.
