| I've got a couple of questions about Novell's Netware 5 CLI (server side), so here we go...
Is it possible and how could I:
1. List directories?
2. Print current working directory?
3. Create new folders?
4. View / modify / assign permissions on files and folders?
...by using only the CLI.
Thx in advance. | |

| Anyone?????? | |
|
| Most of the things that you mentioned can be done via Xserver using ConsoleOne at the server side .
You might want to also look into NETBASIC.NLM that has some of the similar features ...

| You could also download toolbox.nlm from Novell's site or use CPQFM.NLM which is a Compaq utility which allows you to do many of the things you are talking about including changing file attributes from the CLI. You can also purge old files from the _Netware directory which is hidden to other utilities.
Hope this helps. | |

| I am fairly new to Netware, so you will have to bare with me...I have successfully loaded a pc w/NW5 server (w/o any updates btw). I am not too familiar with the CLI either...I am basically trying to get into the nwadmin32.exe from the CLI, but I don't know how to get there...I tried getting out of the GUI to the System Console command line, but do not know the commands to launch nwadmin...I have also ventured into the Console One within the GUI & can get into it from there...I am picturing NWADMIN looking like MS AD (sort of) & NWADMIN looks nothing like that from Console One...I also have studied my Exam Essentials 50-639 & some of their questions goes thru examples of NWADMIN screenshots...Perhaps, I have not enough experience with NW to be even asking these questions, but I am trying to learn it by myself...maybe that is my problem...any feedback is appreciated...
p.s. I have a netadmin 4.11 book, but it hasn't helped me much w/NW5...I also have a lame exam cram nw5 admin book too, which basically skips everything...please let me know which NW book is a must for the avg. NW admin. thanks

| You cannot run nwadmn32 from the server console.
The way you'll do it is you'll have to log into the server from windows workstation , browse to SYS:PUBLIC\Win32 and launch nwadmn32.exe from there .
In order to log into the server from windows you'll need to install Novell Client . It's available from http://download.novell.com/filedist...ublicSearch.jsp |
