I am planning on taking 5.1 Design and Implementation next week - last exam to CNE finally. I've been using the Clarke book, an Exam Cram, and Exam Essentials to study and prepare. Any last minute suggestions? Thanks.

I hope I didnt get you too late, cause I got a real butt kicking NDS Design simulator that you can just blast out a huge tree in minutes and partition the heck out of it and totally display all the subordinate references. Just awesome! Wish I had it before I took D&I.

enjoy and good luck.

Thanks. But I did take the exam last Monday and passed it. I would have to say your simulator would have helped, as that is probably one of the harder parts of the exam. However, I passed with a 680/800, not as well as I would have liked, but for part of the exam I thought I might fail. So, in the end I felt pretty good about. I am now finally CNE. A bit overkill for my current job responsibilities, but the study has helped me better understand Netware as a whole, and should better prepare me for our 4.11 to 5.1 upgrade this Fall. Thanks.

Congratulations on passing and becoming a CNE! I am due to take the Design & Implementation exam on Friday. I've been using the Clarke books, Exam Essentials, CramSession and also some notes I found here http://home.att.net/~s.k.vincent/254index.html. I found these very useful as a last minute refresher.
How easy did you find the exam? Were there many simulations?

Thanks all for the congrats. Glad to have that milestone past me.

Davidtotty,

I basically used what you are for my studies. Be very familiar with partitioning and time synchronization. I thought the exam was one of the harder ones, and for a few minutes even wondered if I failed, but it was probably more nerves than anything. Exam Essentials is some good prep, so get a good grasp of those questions. In the whirl of questions, I don't remember any sims on this one, although I've had them with other Novell tests, so I wouldn't rule them out. I recall some screenshots at least, so be aware of what your looking at and doing with the utilities.

Good luck and let us know how you do.

darthw!

Just wanted to let you know I passed the exam on Friday. I got a score of 619, I was well impressed! I was fairly comfident before I went in as I had got some good scores on Exam Essentials. I even wrote down the questions as I took them just to make sure.
I've only got to retake Integrating Windows NT and I'm done. I didn't put enough time into studying for it last time. Novell's web site claimed that it was going to expire on the 15/05/2002, I found out two weeks before and rushed to study for it and got 17 marks under the pass mark. I've now found out that Novell didnt expire the exam. Gutted or What!!

Congrats. Integrating NT was only the second test in all my certs I've failed - boohoo. The books I had were a bit dated for Integrating NT, so they didn't address the E-directory info. Well, I got a bunch of questions about info to which I had not been exposed. I barely failed, but.....

Good luck. Got my CNE certificate yesterday. Sweet. My boss told me I'd be a great resource to the team as we begin the upgrade to 5.1 on our servers. I just hope I can remember even half of what I've studied and used. Let's see NDPS, NSS, partitions and replicas, time synch, Primary Reference Server.....ugh.

Thanks mate, it helps to know someone else who failed Intergrating NT. I just hope I don't get a load of e-directory questions.
