| Need some help. I have an NW 4.11 server that is showing monchrome (black and white) on the screen instead of color. The monitor displays color on another computer, so it seems fine. When you Rconsole into the server the GUI is also black and white, not color, which makes me think it is display settings. I can't find anything specific about setting displays on Novell's site. Any ideas? I'm a bit new to Netware. | |

| is it the video card?
i've only seen one b&w server before (was an old compaq) and never bothered with it. and it also showed b&w when rconsoled.
sorry. | |

| I haven't necessarily ruled out the video card, except that the Rconsole sessions are B&W, too. I would just think Rconsole would still be color if it was the video card. | |

| I know that certain dell optiplex pc's had a problem similiar to that. They didn't support svga so you had to use on the of the other settings, I forget which one though. its not a dell is it? | |

| No, it is an older HP Netserver. I am replacing the video card. Since it's gray in RConsole as well, I don't really think it's the card, rather a software issue, but I don't have any other ideas. | |

| Found the answer finally. Thankfully this was for a noncritical issue, more just for aesthetics.
The resolution was posted on HP's site for some of their Netserver models. If you shut the server down AND turn the monitor off, then turn the server on, THEN turn the monitor on, the issue was resolved. You can also buy some sort of adapter that will fix the issue as well. Something about the monitor being on when the server boots make the video display go to monochrome. It threw me off the RCONSOLE was showing gray as well, so I figured it was a driver issue. | |

| Good to hear that you got it resolved. I will make note of that fix for future reference. |
