Starting my Novell studies.... need opinions....

| I have done a LITTLE Novell admin work and of course a good bit of client side stuff but as far as I am concerned I'm pretty green.
My plan (so far) is to study Netware 5.1. I have the Novell Clarke book on the way and I already have my SmartForce CBT's for 5.1 that I got from work.
I am studying it for a couple of reasons. First of all a LOT of people still use Novell (duh) and as someone who dreams of bigger and better jobs many employers want a CNE in addition to a MCSE. I was ready to start my CCNP but here in NE Ohio the are about 20 times more jobs that want Novell experience than those who want Cisco people.
I have no problem with that. To tell you the truth I look forward to something different and Novell looks like fun. (I know, sounds strange!) Novell also looks like a really stable server OS that is certainly a lot easier to learn than Linux! (I tried reading my Linux+ book but it BORES ME TO HELL)
ANYWAY!! (sorry to drone on) I need to know how I should proceed for my exams (bearing in mind I don't pay for them, read on)
Should I:
Take the 5.1 Admin exam (61 questions right?)
OR
Take the 5.0 Admin exam (Adaptive) THEN Take the 5.1 Update Exam.
What is the recommended path? I don't mind taking 2 exams and I wondered if it is easier to take 5 and the 5.1 update rather than taking the 5.1 exam. I think it would be nice to have the 2 certs (5.0, 5.1) but just wondered what the experts around here think.
Thanks

| I said CNE... I meant CNA....
Gotta learn to walk before I can run.

| Novell is a fun NOS, I prefer M$, but I've played with Novell and its not that bad, I used Clarke's book and EE for prep. I would go ahead and get the 5.1 CNA, though i heard theres not much difference in the tests. | |

| Just go with 5.1. The Clarke book should get you through most of the info. I also used the CNA 5 Exam Cram book, and didn't really see any difference from the info presented in the Clarke book.
Good luck! | |

| NetWare is getting more user friendly, while Linux still required to know many command line. However, they are all the same.
Start from one point and end at the other!
