Hello Guys
I need your input here, last year i finished my cisco networking academy program and passed my CCNA without any problem
i couldnt get any entry level job based on CCNA
Then i took NOVELL and WIN2K class in a college
from last nine months i m working a entery level job ($10)in a novell and win2k environment i m very good in zenworks3.0 and yesterday i passed
CNA(50-653} Exam it was very tough then CCNA.

Now if u look at industry
trend evrybody is moving to microsoft now i have three options
1. Continue my CNE Coz i m almost ready to take
zenworks exam(50-656) and Networking technologies (50-632) but i think i have to
work very hard to pass rest of three exam
50-654, 050-658, 50-659 to complete CNE

2.I should start working towards MSCE coz i have
good experience working with win2k

3 or i should stay with CISCO Track and start
working on CCNP

i am in LOS Angeles if anybody needs help with
ZENWORKS 3.0 i m available on friday,sat,sunday.

thanks
daystrom

This is my personal opinion. Look for your CNE or MCSE instead of your CCNP.
These are two great choice to boost a career.
You seem to have a working experience with both of the product giving you the choice of the move.
For myself, i prefer the CNE path simply because there's a lot of MCSE out there instead of CNE giving CNE more chance to negociate good salary. naturally, it depends of the region you are.

I suggest going for whatever you enjoy the most. It sounds like you have experience with all of these products, so you probably have a good idea of what you're into.

If you're more into the Novell or Microsoft side of things then I think the MCSE and CNE would compliment each other, so you may want to consider that route. If you're more into the Cisco side of things you may want to do something simular to what I'm doing. I plan on taking the CNA and MCP (Win2k Server) before finishing up the CCNP and CCDP exams.

Go for the $$$, next go for what you like to work on, or visa-versa. The CCxx are $$$ bound if your into it. Personally, pitting the Novell against MS certs is strange ground. Do what you desire most - youll be good at it and that will maybe open the door to other avenues.

Yeah, but the problem is breaking into it. Most companies don't want a newbie configuring their routers.

Thats a dang good point. I always got stuck being the 20% of the workforce doing 80% of the work, so I cant say I can identify with that. I can say I have worked with the 80% that only got to do 20% of the available tasks. I dont envy what that must entail.

It depends on the individual. You walk in with a Cisco cert, yet you look like genX, talk like a technogeek, and generally show a low level of regard towards what is obviously a vital function in the enterprise and yeah, you probably wont be tweakin the layer 3 stuff. At this point I dont have knowledge of but would like to think anyone in a fee-course based CCxx program is going to get somewhat serious and responsible based on the content itself. Then theres always the job interview.

Based on attitude, I know several whom dont get to touch a server, and not because thier newbies or rookies. Its not luck that opens up the positions to people (usually, hopefully not).

Go for those cert that help u on your IT career....! Then $$$

I believe Novell have the potential because NW is a very good NOS...

Remember CNE required skill and Technical knowledge on the system.

If u not using Novell system, it is difficult and very easy to forgot what u learn..
