Passed Advanced Admin 5.1

| I passed Avanced administration exam 564 this morning. It wasn't real difficult at all. It was 69 questions, it touched on every subject in the book. There were several questions on console commands, I was asked the commands to start and stop most of the services in the Web server suite. Mainly pointed questions about NLS-LSP, DNS-DHCP and every other service available in 5.1 for that matter.
It took me 35 minutes and I scored 721. I studied the Clarke book on Netware 5.1 and used EE5.5. EE was right on the money. I also used the STS simulator but it was not nearly as close to what the actual exam was like. I recommend EE for this exam.

| Thanks CCIETOBE and OHIOCOMPUTERTECH. I'm working on NDS Design and Implementation now, it promises to be loads of fun... | |

| I just passed this morning also (6/22)! Took me about the same 35mins and I got a 713. I missed a few easy questions. At the VUE center, which is actually a University of Phoenix extension campus, they test in the class lab - and the admin and instructor came in and started imaging the machines. I almost popped. I asked and they explained and went about thier business - that sucked.
Back to the test. Lots of PKI and lots of DNSDHCP. Lots of PKI drag and drops. And a mix of everything else. The STS test matched the 570 Student manual very close, bullets and objectives and tips from the class instructor were very dead on matched. The STS DNSDHCP Management Console sim was a little weak, as the test throws a fake desktop with the graphically correct Console up. If youve worked on the real thing its pretty inconsequential. Freddy, does EE have a similar sim?
The questions I missed, as I just referenced the Student manual were pretty obscure. What I mean is they werent in the main manual points, the STS, nor the Instructors pointers. Tip: read the fine print, I thought I would score 100% on this test as I did 100% on all STS sections and I, per all recommendations hit the manual with a hammer.
Most of the obscure stuff was PKI fine print and suprisingly (forgot to mention it earlier) NDS partitioning and replication.
Like Freddy I am doing 575 D&I next. Got the STS. Got both manuals - 634 Adaptive and 659 Form. Gonna do the 659 Form.

| Congratulations Dheindsdorf. That test can test your metal a little bit, attention to detail is definitely the key there. EE55 has simulators but instead of you doing anything with them, they open up in Lotus notes and play showing you how to do the simulation. You did alright for having people distracting you while you attempt to test. I have never had a problem like that in a test center. I would be a little upset myself if that happened.
Congrats again, great job!!

Thanks,
Overall I enjoyed digging through all the text because it will only help on the job, versus just trying to pass the test. I tell you what though, the text covers just the basics - 5.1 is indepth and there looks to be lots of stuff to tweak to get it going correctly - but thats a different thread.
The STS sim is a pain because you have to select "Learn Now" and basically cut/paste/print the instructions given if you really want to know how STS expects you to complete the task - but Novell is looking for the end result - the test faq says if you complete the task, how isnt important if there is more than one way.
I have to talk to VUE about that disturbance. Taking a test in an open lab versus a controlled small test room. Thanks though, as you did great yourself!
