I wouldn't say that it is particularly difficult, there is just a ton of information that the test is drawn from.
I used the Novell Press book by David Clarke, the Exam Cram for Netware 5, and EE55 and I didn't have any trouble at all.
Novell tests have multiple choice, hot spot, simulators and fill in the blank questions on them. Make sure you actually know the material well before attempting the test.

I took the 5.1 exam with the 60 or so questions, I hear it is now adaptive. I failed the test the first time. I am scheduled to take it again later this month. I seem to have difficulty passing these tests no matter how hard I study. To me it isn't that difficult, it is knowing what will be on the test. There is a lot of information to study. I do know from my test and my co-workers test, knowing how to create lof in scripts will be helpful. A lot of the questions are not multiple choice, they are fill in the blanks.

Ohiocomputertech,
Have you used the Exam Essentials, or some other test simulators before attempting the exams?

How good is Exam Essentials. Is it really all that for the CNA Exam.

It's right on the money as to what the exam is like. I didn't have any real surprises when I sat down for the real exam. If you know the whys and wherefores on the questions on EE you will do fine on the exam. I highly recommend it.

Clarke book and EE are the best combination for studying Novell certification.
Get EE from www.certify.com

For scale 1 to 5 difficutly
CNA is 2

Nothing better than hand-on experience. Many new CNA or CNE cannot proform their duty on the job position..

The Clarke books are the Novell press books written by David James Clark, IV. He has the red and white books for the Novell Certs. He wrote the big thick study guides as well as the Clarke Notes series of exam prep books. They cut to the chase and present the bare facts for cramming right before the exam. Kind of like the Exam Cram books. They are sold by most major book stores. Amazon.com,BN.com, borders.com are some good places to start looking.

I'm getting ready to take this exam. What do you mean by simulators? Is the same ones on EE5? How are they set up and what's a hot spot?

TIA

Hi Bernie,
A hot spot question is one where you will open a pop-up window and click on the proper place on the example to answer the question. Really easy and straight forward.
Simulation questions are questions where you actually open a simulator of the program that you use in real life such as NWADMIN. You simply perform the task requested, close the simulator and go to the next question. In EE55, a lotus notes recording will open up and show you how to do the task, you can then pracitice doing what it showed you how to do on a real server. Pretty cool really.

Thanks Freddy, I've checked the Novell website but they don't seem to have the info I need. Is this test non-adaptive and about 60questions?

TIA

Bernie,
Here is a link to the Novell test data sheet. You might want to print it out and keep it handy. Be advised that tests can go from form to adaptive without notice. When I took it, it was a form test, 61 questions and it really wasnt all that difficult, just a ton of information to get through.
