| Im looking for a pcanywhere like product to go on a novell server. I have my pc and i use pcanywhere to beam into my NT 4 server (studying my cne and need it for my elective), and i wanted to do the same with my novell server so i can unhook the monitor and leave the 2 boxes running in the corner. if the need arises i can simply plug a monitor into one and troubleshoot from there but the 2 pc's are taking up to much precious space now... any idea's? its got me beat | |

| Why don't you just pcanywhere into a 95 or NT machine and then rconsole to the server. I know that works perfectly cause I do it everyday.

| you'll find out that RConsole will not work in a pure IP environment (nw5.x, for example). in that case you have to use RConJ (the new Java based version) or you can get Free Remote Console from http://www.adremsoft.com/freecon/index.htm.
the interface is nearly identical as RConJ but it's better. there's a little NLM to load on the server but it seems to be happy. and the full purchase-able version has all kindsa cool features for security... go see it.
anyway, you will not get the GUI from the server across the Remote Console apps. but if you really want to access your GUI remotely, check out this TID. you'll need some linux though.

| zenworks will not allow you to control your server remotely -- unless flext is talking about ZfS (http://www.novell.com/products/zenworks/servers/).
just use one of the options i mentioned. they are all FREE and each operates in the same fashion, i.e., they put the server console in a window on your PC.

| If you have NW 5.1 going on you can go in via the Netware Management Portal (https:8089). I always like to dialup to my 2000 Server at work running Terminal Services and run whatever to the server. The Management Portals "screens" page is like RConsole but its way slower (mouse hell). If your in the same room RConsole is fastest. |
