| Hi Everyone:
Just passed the TCP/IP for Network Professionals exam. If you are taking this exam I strongly recommend the Exam Essentials 6 practice test. Their subnetting tutorials are the best! Zenworks for Desktops is next and I'll be done! Too bad EE doesn't have a practice test for Zen.
Cheers!

Way to go and be!! Goto STSWare for your Zen test - at least then you can tel me how it is. I stil have purchased 5/6 test with them and cannot see EE being better, just less expensive.
Congradulations in any case. If you do ge the STSWare Zen test, let me know, as I am serious about knowing how it is.
I tries to wing it on the Zen2 test - if you check the archives. I had several vouchers about to expire. It shouldnt be that tough and probably warrants only the Student manual if you have it...

Hi Doug:
I did buy the STS practice test for Zen2 but I don't have the "White Book" to go with it so I'm finding it difficult to quantify the answers that STS gives. I'm not too confident about their accuracy. Some of the questions are pretty vague and the expanations they give seem way off the mark (I've been using Zen at work for over two years). I could be wrong, but without the White Book I can't really say for certain and I haven't had any luck locating documentation on the Novell web site for Zen2. There's plenty on Zen3 though.
I used EE to help me prepare for most of the other exams I took and they were worth the money. The explanations came straight from the White Books, word for word.
I can't afford to fail the Zen exam so I might just bite the bullet and buy the Novell Student kit.
I'll keep you posted. | |

I have the rev 1.0 white book for Zen2. They shipped me the 2.0 a few days after the class. You in an extreme rush? I wouldnt mind trading a white book for it. Perhaps you have something - if you do gimme a list. The books are super close (1.0 and 2.0).
I really couldnt see doing the STS without the book. And I am suprised EE has'nt got Zen, afterall it is never lacking in awards with each new version.

In the 5 of 6 STS's i've bought, I checked almost every answer against the white book - to see if what I highlighted in the book per what the NAEC instructor said would be on the test correlated. STS 5.0 Admin was DEAD on the mark, while 5.1 AAdmin caused me to write so many errata emails that they actually did a new 5.1AA test rev, it was awefull. And they dont post the revs, they have the same file name even. Poor at best.
If I have time, I usually try to mark each question/response physically in the white book with a green "check point" and highlight it if it isnt already - that gives me a hardcopy reference to the STS Q's.
STS to me is notorious for having some real good dead on explanations, but for the most part they are either vague, too short, off the mark, or a combo of those.

I am saving the Zen2 test for last, hoping it goes adaptive. I had to use a test voucher before it expired and I took Zen2 without any studying - I failed by a couple Help Requestor questions. Let me know if your interested on that Zen2 rev1.0 book I got.

Yeti - whats your .sig's reference to CCIE Wannabe Boffin club? Are you referring to the now defunct Boffin Ltd. who sold cd servers?

Netware for SAA (50-637)
Fundamentals of Network Management (50-606)
Netware NFS Services (50-160)
Desktop Management with ZENworks (50-662)
Hmmm can I do the following in the next 18 days:
1. TCP/IP for Networking Professional (50-649)
2. 370 GroupWise 6 Administration (50-657)
3. Integrating NDS eDirectory and Active Directory (50-663)
4. Desktop Management with ZENworks for Desktops 3 (50-656)
Don't fret Yeti. You have a couple of things mixed up.
Desktop Management with ZENworks2 is exam 50-656 and it's not going to expire until Dec. 2002.
Desktop Management with ZENworks for Desktops 3 is exam 50-662 and it's not scheduled to expire anytime soon.
So, you have plenty of time to study for the MCNE.
Also you should check the MCNE progress chart at http://www.novell.com/education/cer...ne/mcneprog.pdf
You may have already taken at least one or two of the required exams when you did the CNE sequence.
Good luck! | |

Hi Doug:
Alas, the White Books I've used are not mine (they belong to the company library) otherwise I would have gladly traded for your Zen2 book.
Thanks so much for the Zen2 docs link, I don't know how I could have missed it.
As for the Zen2 exam going adaptive, I wouldn't hold my breath - it's scheduled for retirement in December 2002, last recommended day to register is February 15 2002.
Best regards, | |

Best regards,
Well, whaddaya think its worth? email me if you got anything interesting to trade or ?
Speaking of doc links being right in ones face - I been tweaking the NW6beta for days, local dns and web access and the beta kits doc link was old, so I went the long way through solutionet (natural language) and everywhere else for half an hour, getting pissed. Of COURSE its all right on the main docs page.
My 5.0 Admin test expires for CNE cert 12/31/01 - scared the jeepers out of me, NovellEd said they would spot me a couple extra months - cool huh. Thanks for the Zen2 test info.
Really, lemme know if you need the book. I am an easy sale/trade.

Congradulations. I found the Zen 2 test really easy. I passed it after only two nights of study. The zen 3 test is much harder.
